Thank you notes

Melanie, on August 11, 2020 at 9:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 10
As I am getting wedding gift delivered from those who are not able to attend the wedding should I send the thank you card out shortly after I get it or can I wait till after the wedding and do it with the rest of my thank you cards. Also looking for wording suggestions on what to put in the cards.

You should send thank you cards ASAP. Verbiage depends on the gift, there are tons of examples on Pinterest.

Yes it is customary to send Thank you's within 2 weeks of receipt.

I would send Thank You cards as soon as you receive gifts. That makes it less cards that you have to send out after the wedding, and people will appreciate receiving a prompt thank you note.

It's better to send thank you notes as soon as possible. If you get a gift within a few weeks of the wedding, it's okay to wait until afterward to send them. People will understand that you're busy. If they're from people who will be at the wedding, you can also wait. Instead of saying, "we're excited to see you at the wedding," you can say, "we hope to see you as soon as it's safe to be together in person," or something like that if your guest list was reduced because of covid.

Agree with everyone saying to go ahead and send thank yous as you receive gifts.

I would do your standard thank you:

"Thank you so much for the (________). This platter will be great at Friendsgiving! We'll miss seeing you at the wedding but hope we can celebrate together soon!"

I would send one asap and I would send then a photo from the wedding after you get your photos with an extra thank you since they were extra nice sending you a gift even though they did not come to your wedding.

Send out thank you's ASAP and keep a log of who you sent them to. Good luck!

Send them as you receive the gifts.

"Thank you so much for the generous (whatever gift). We will miss you at the wedding but hope to visit when we can."

Personally, since your wedding is so close... i think it’ll be ok to wait. If it was any farther away, I’d say otherwise. Buttt that’s just me.
