Thank you notes for engagement gifts?

Micaiah, on September 24, 2018 at 9:17 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
So my aunt sent us an engagement gift. Is it appropriate to send a thank you note, or would it be okay to just give her a call? (She lives across the country, so seeing her in person wouldn't be an option right now).

    Hey again, Micaiah!

I think you could do either option and it'd be totally fine!! I'm sure either way, I'm sure she will be happy to hear from you and know that you and your FS appreciated her gift Smiley smile

You could do either, but I feel with the older generation, an actual thank you note is much more appreciated.

Definitely send a thank you card!
A call in addition is nice but not necessary.

A call is way more personal than a note so if that's what you prefer to do I'm sure if you do that she would appreciate it.

A hand-written, detailed, snail mailed thank-you note is the response to a gift.

Do you enjoy getting a card or something in the mail? I bet you said "Yes".... so do others.

But etiqiette says to Always send a "Thank You" note for a gift. You can always call to follow up that they received the note, but to keep formal tradition alive, make the person happy to get something other than a bill in the mail, and give the post office work I'd send it!

I would for sure send a thank you note. Every person we got an engagement gift from enjoyed the handwritten note we sent them.

I would send a thank you note. A handwritten note is a rare thing these days and people appreciate the time it takes when you send them.
