Well this sure is complicated! I need some advice. I'll try to keep it short and sweet.
We got married in Nov, one of our guests was DH's boss who gave us a very generous gift.
One month later, he let DH go from his company.
He was the company owner, and DH reported directly to him and worked there for almost 5 years. This was not a case of DH breaking any rules or anything like that, he just decided he wanted to go a different direction and hire someone else.
It was completely unexpected, and DH feels hurt/heartbroken/betrayed/confused. It was also the week before christmas when he told him.
I'm writing my thank you notes for our wedding gifts, and I have no idea what to write in the thank you to him. DH doesn't want me to write one at all. I feel like anything I write will be superficial, as obviously we are grateful for the gift he gave us but I can't very well say "so glad you were there and can't wait to see you again!" I also don't want to send a note that just says "thanks for the gift" because I feel that is almost more rude than not sending one.. Or is it?
Help.
