Favors can be skipped if you don’t have budget for it

They are no longer mandatory. We are doing welcome bags and are including a photo postcard as part of our “favor”

Favors have never been required. Skip them if you want.

A reception is a thank you in itself which is required for guests attending the ceremony.

We're having a dessert table and we honestly just might double them up as favors. If we do that, we'll just have little to go boxes/bags.

We got personalized stemless wine glasses from the knot shop, but honestly I feel like half the time people just leave their favors and forget to take them. That’s something that can totally be skipped if you don’t care about it

Are you talking about favors for the guests or thank you gifts for the parents?

Favors are becoming less and less common. No one will miss them if you don’t have them, and many will get left behind if you do. Your best best for favors, if you choose to have them, is to do something edible.
Thank you gifts for the parents are a different story. It doesn’t have to be anything major, but it’s a super sweet gesture to thank them for raising you and for their support. You give gifts (or a joint gift) to your parents and your future spouse gives to his/her parents. That’s usually done at the rehearsal dinner the night before (or just the night before if you opt not to have a dinner).

Wedding favors can just be something simple like a cookie or a jar of M&Ms or something but they aren't mandatory. Most people will forget what it was anything or forget it.

I would consider giving at least small gifts to your wedding party and parents/future in-laws.

Favors definitely aren't necessary, but they are nice. We're going to do a coffee favor.

Yes just favors. I’ve been hearing both thank you’d and favors for gifts after the wedding to guests.

This is so helpful and confirming my thoughts.

Funny story, my fiancé’s sister-in law’s mom had to have these candles as favors. No one liked them and most of them were left behind. She was surprised no one wanted any, because she thought they were so adorable. Three years later, a box still sits in a closet.
