Thank you gift ideas for young ushers?

Nicole, on April 4, 2013 at 7:43 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

My two younger brothers are being ushers. They are ages 12 and 14. We have no idea what to get them as gifts! FH is giving the groomsmen and one other adult usher engraved wall mounted beer bottle openers. Not exactly teenager appropriate! Any ideas for a gift for the youngsters??

I'm interested in this answer too as my ushers will be my two grandsons who are 12 and 10 (not exactly teenagers but any suggestions for you might also be appropriate for them.)

What budget were you trying to stick with?

If they are not the type to mess around with it, I don't know of any boy, no matter the age, that doesn't like a pocket knife! Also...having to teenage sons, they love getting gift cards to Subway, Sonic, Steak & Shake, etc....they also enjoy gift cards to the movie theaters, etc.

A pocket knife is a good idea! Engraved maybe. I would have to see if my mom approves of that first Smiley winking

Giftcards are so easy but I always worry whenever I give them that it might seem like I didn't put any thought into it. But at least then I know they would get themselves something they like.. hmmmm....

budget.. we would like to stay under $100 for each person (which is 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsman, and 3 ushers.. yikes!!)

I'd steer away from pocket knives for boys. They will forget it is in their pocket/backpack and take it to school and get in big trouble.

I immediately thought video game or gamestop gift card (if you don't know what games). Maybe if you have a go cart place nearby you could get them a certificate to go there. I'm sure they'd love that.

Thanks for the ideas. My brothers would definitely LOVE a gamestop gift card. And your right, young boys probably don't care at all how much effort is put into it, they like being able to pick what they want!

Mmm yea I would recommend something not wedding related too. They wont appreciate it. Simple gift cards would work perfectly for them as long as its to somewhere they like Smiley smile

I am thinking of getting my nephews a pair of socks for their favorite football teams (that they can wear at the wedding) and a movie ticket. My nephews love football, thought something football related that they can wear at the wedding would be nice.
