Thank you cards

Sarah, on October 6, 2022 at 3:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 9

I've been married for almost 2 weeks now!! WOOHOO!! Wedding and honeymoon were both absolutely fabulous!

Now back to reality and getting the thank you cards done. So I originally wanted to use a wedding picture on our thank you cards however we haven't received any professional pictures yet (contracted turn around time is 1 month). We might get some sneak peaks next week but of course it's the busy season so that's not guaranteed. I am one that likes to get thank you cards done as soon as possible (for my shower I had them done that day). I just don't want guests to think I'm rude by not sending it right away. Should I wait a week and hope that we have some sneak peak photos to choose from? Or just order thank you cards without a picture? If the latter, where do you suggest getting nice but affordable thank you cards from?

I would email your photographer and acknowledge the turn around time but ask if they anticipate being able to get you a sneak peek within the week. Otherwise, you can get them from Amazon, craft stores, Vistaprint/Ann’s Bridal Bargains/Zazzle/Minted/etc online.

We gave up on that and just sent picture-less ones. I knew I would forget to do them if I put it off.

This might sound weird but we actually got really pretty ones from WALMART of all places!!! Here’s a photo of an extra one we have. I think the pack of 20 was Hallmark brand.

Did any of your guests take any nice photos of the wedding? Perhaps you could use one of them?

Alternatively you could email your photographer and ask if they would consider sending you one shot that you could use for your thank you cards (just make sure you let them know the type of photo i.e. group pic of all the guests or just you guys etc)

We just bought some basic ones at Target. Most people are going to throw them away and we didn't want to spend a bunch of extra money on photo cards that would end up in the trash bin.

Yeah I ended up ordering nice ones from Amazon this morning. If we happen to get some pictures within the next week I may order prints and just include them in the thank you cards.

I’ve been talking photos with the gifts we received and putting them in the thank you cards. I can’t tell you how many guests have acknowledged that and loved getting a photo of their gift. It’s not like they’re going to hang it on their fridge or anything. But seeing the gift they bought online has really tickled them.

I’m happy you asked this because I had the same exact question and situation going on with waiting on the pics.
