Thank you cards

Taylor, on October 24, 2022 at 3:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
How soon did you order thank you cards? We got 30 preview shots a few days after our wedding and I love one of the photos and really liked some of the others so I ordered thank you cards like a week after the wedding. People said I should’ve waited to see if when we got the rest there were others I liked better but at the end of the day I feel like it’s just a thank you card right? I just don’t want to have to remember to send them in 3 months when we get the rest of the photos

I wouldn't have waited, but that's mainly because we wanted to send out our thank you notes ASAP after the wedding. We actually mailed one round of thank you notes on our honeymoon lol (we worked on them on the flight out). I agree that it's just a thank you card, and you picked a photo you love, so I don't see the point in waiting to send them.

I agree with you 100%! You chose a photo you loved and are making sure to get this task done before too much time passes. I see no reason to wait on other photos and delay the process, especially when it won’t make a difference to the recipients. The longer you push off a task, the more dreadful it seems!

Yes order sooner! Then you don’t have to be bogged down and can just enjoy it when all the photos come in. You don’t need your best picture for a thank you card !

I agree with PPs - always order (and write) early! We didn't even get ones with photos, just some generic ones that said thank you and looked "wedding" and (like Lisa) wrote them on the airplane rides for our honeymoon

I personally picked one of the photos from the first 30 my photographer sent and made a card with those.

Thank you cards should be sent immediately after the wedding. Save the wedding photos to send in your holiday cards.

We actually did no-picture thank you’s to make sure we wrote them ASAP and then after the wedding we didn’t want the remaining ones to go to waste. We don’t regret it and just plan to send out pictures in this year’s Christmas cards 😊

I'm not planning on doing thank you cards with pictures. Seems like an extra unnecessary expense (to me personally) when the priority is to get something out right away and so the photographer isn't rushed. I know everyone has different feelings on that, but that's just my take. Depending when the wedding is, what I'd do is send a photo on the "First Christmas" card instead, and then you'll hopefully have all the photos to choose from and can do your favorite or a few of your favorites. Plus nowdays with so much being online, a lot of folks are able to access what you post when it's available so many people will be able to see your photos there if Christmas will be a while off from your date ^.^
