Thank you cards from engagement party.......

Christina, on June 13, 2016 at 11:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

FPIL gave FH and I an awesome engagement party on 6/5/16. Approx 75 people, full meal and booze at a decent mexican restaurant we love (FPIL paid for EVERYTHING!) It was a great day and I cannot be anymore thankful for their generosity and support for us. Here's my question-every guest get sent a thank-you card or just the ones that gave gifts?

You should thank everyone for attending, regardless if they gave you a gift or not. Their presence and support are gifts too. Smiley smile

Send to everyone. Mention a personal note if a gift was given. Thank them for coming.

Everyone should get a thank you that came and/or sent gifts.

Sorry this is off topic, but what is the P in FPIL? I've been here for months and haven't seen it, then I saw it twice today!

You don't have to thank your guests for coming-- they should thank you (somehow) for hosting. You only have to send notes for gifts.

Don't send thank you notes for coming. You should have thanked them in person as best as possible. Send thank you notes for any gift received.

Proper etiquette is that when someone attends a fully hosted event like this, the guest would actually send a note to the hosts or bring a small gift for the host thanking them for the food and entertainment.
