Thank you card wording for monetary gift

Sarah, on October 2, 2015 at 12:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

We received mostly cash and checks for gifts. Saying thank you for the money sounds so wrong. What is the best wording? I want to express our thanks without being so generic. I read an article to say "Thank you for the generous check we plan to use it to for a XYZ" We honestly plan to put it in the bank and re-start our savings, we already own a house together. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Yeah, something like the article--"Thank you for your generous gift, it is truly appreciated as we start our marriage blah blah blah"

We will probably receive mostly cash/ check too. I plan on writing something along the lines of "Thank you for your generous gifts. FH and I had a great time celebrating the start of our new journey together. We are excited to see what the future brings. We hope to see you again soon....blah blah."

Millions of example on google- you don't have to say what it's for.

    Dear Aunt Laura,

Thank you so much for your very generous wedding gift. It was such a blast to see you at the wedding, and I can’t wait to catch up around the holidays!

    Lots of love,

    Barry and Elise

I always thank them for the 'gift' or 'generous gift'. If there's something I've been saving for and that I would put that money towards, I'd mention it (making your house a home through renovations/home projects/special vacation you're planning for in the future/etc.)
