What started as a little joke at my nieces birthday party while I was wearing a huge pink oval dress up ring (her birthday was Fancy Nancy themed-think glam 4 year olds with tiaras and boas) turned into my engagement ring. FH joked that day that i didn’t need a ring now and I could just wear that one.. so I joked back and said the shape was right but the color was all wrong and I’d like it to be more simple. So I went from a pink gaudy oval to my simple dainty oval and I’m so in love with it. He did so good! And the engagement was a total surprise. It was on my birthday and he planned a surprise party with all my family and friends and turned it into a proposal. I’ll never forget it.

My FH and I spent a few minutes looking at a jeweler's website and I showed him the styles I liked. I told him, "I don't really care too much except I want it to really sparkle." Then he took my daughter to the jeweler and let her help him pick it out. I told him this was a mistake, and true to form, she first picked out an $11K ring! Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and he got something MUCH less expensive. It's a gorgeous ring, Three diamonds surrounded by small diamonds and lovely diamonds around the band. It's the fanciest thing I've ever owned and I feel slightly ashamed owning something so nice, but I just adore it.

We went shopping for mine after he proposed, I wear ZERO jewelry and have never worn a ring so I had no idea what I wanted. I knew I didn't want anything that would stick out too much/get caught on things because I'm clutzy enough on my own lol I decided on a 1 ct tw three stone with princess cut diamonds, and I love it! FH says he thinks he would have picked something similar for me if he had been left to his own devices.

We're very traditional and also felt it should be a surprise. He asked me a few times what I liked and knew my birthstone was Sapphire. Our dating wasn't dating, though. It was a courtship so we both went into our relationship with marriage as the end goal. It was pretty obvious to us this was a "match" from the beginning but I told him I still expected a formal proposal. I figured it'd be coming over the summer sometime this year. My kids had gone to spend the summer with their dad. The night they left FH stayed over at my house. We woke up really late that morning like 11am and he kept asking me what I wanted for breakfast and I kept saying it was too late for breakfast and that I wanted a chili dog. I went back to sleep and next thing I know he's in my room with two chili dogs on his knees with a silver box. I was super surprised even though it wasn't unexpected. I don't really wear jewelry beyond my earrings so the ring he got was perfect and low key. I really like hearts, I have them all over my office. It was a complete pain to match with a band, though.

Ooh, your ring is beautiful! My FH chose my ring with a mutual friend. I'm grateful for that because there's no telling what FH would've chosen on his own! I love the ring they chose for me

I always thought I wanted a cushion cut with a halo (way too much Pinterest browsing, lol) but when my friend had gotten engaged and received just that, I realized maybe I didn’t like it as much as I thought. Knowing my fiancé was close to proposing I shared my thoughts and he urged me to go to a store and try on a few different rings to see what I like. I knew I liked bling and halos 😇 and the jeweler turned me to a oval and I fell in LOVE!

My ring is a family heirloom, and totally not something I ever imagined I would like, but I love it!

It belonged to my FH's great-grandmother, and his mom gave it to him to give to me when we got to that point in our relationship. I knew what it looked like, and initially wanted to get it reset/redesigned at the jewelers, but as soon as it was on my finger I fell in love.

It is a round center stone, with 4 baguette diamonds and three smaller round stones on each side, set in yellow gold. I love that it is totally unique, and no one has anything like it.

He proposed at Grandfather Mountain, in North Carolina where we live. It was one of the first trips we took together after moving to NC, and we have great memories there.

My fiancé picked it out all on his own. The only thing I ever said to him was that I wanted a vintage looking ring, but he didn't get me that lol. I love that he picked it out, it means more to me that it came from him and not just something that I picked out and he paid for.

The proposal was a total surprise. He was going to ask me @ Magic Kingdom, but we were at Harry Potter all day and I didn't wanna go to Magic Kingdom. He asked me when we got back to the hotel and I was like "Why didn't you ask me when we were at Harry Potter??" lol He said he got nervous about my reaction and didn't want everyone staring haha.
