Taller than FH on wedding day?!

amytherese, on January 9, 2016 at 3:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

FH and I are basically the same height, so I have been searching for blue flats for the wedding.. but I am in love with these Kate Spade's. They have a 3 inch heel. I am pretty sure tux shoes will give FH a little height, but do you think it will be weird if I am a tad taller? He says he doesn't care. Should I go for it? Aren't they gorgeous?!

If he doesn't care, then go for it. Those are beautiful. =]

I'm taller than my husband with or without heels (I don't wear them in general though). If you love them and he loves you enough to not care, then go for it. We did a dip kiss so that I wasn't leaning down to kiss him.

FH is about an 1 1/2" taller than me. I wore low heels (probably 3") and neither of us noticed the height difference. Wear what makes you feel beautiful :-)

LOVE THOSE!! I'm in the same boat so I know how you feel. I don't think anyone will notice (or care) about the height difference especially since its minimal. You better get them!

Ahh Brooklynbride I love those too, but my best friend wore them at her wedding! That's what lead me to Kate Spade. When I saw the cobalt I fell in love. My BM are in the same color so I think they will be perfect. I am pretty sure they are out of season and amazon only has 4 pairs left in my size so I'm doing it!!

They are gorgeous but honestly -- these pictures last forever. Do you really want to be taller than him in all of your pictures, that will hang on your walls forever? I wouldn't, but if it doesn't bother you than it doesn't matter.

You can always suggest shoe lifts ;-)

I will ask about shoe lifts when we go get the tuxes. I think I will order and try them on while he is in his wedding shoes.. see how big the difference is. Amazon has a a great return policy if they don't work. Honestly I'm so used to wearing flats I'm not sure how I feel about being taller. I don't think I will care but annakay, you're right, pictures are forever.

    Do it!

My FH and I are the same height and both really tall, so I have a wealth of methods for looking a little shorter in photos -

**Edit - I think it's entirely fine/awesome to be taller in the photos, I'm just putting my tips out there, in case it's at all helpful**

    1) Sassy Pose - Bend one knee so your hips aren't even, and stick out a little on one side. It makes your waist look curvy and takes off around 1.5 inches.

    2) Advanced T&A Pose - Stick your but and chest out more than normal, so you're leaning slightly more forward than normal. It makes you look shorter, and as a bonus makes your boobs look bigger.

    3) For any pictures that are above the knee, have your FH stand on his toes slightly, or bend your knees a tiny bit.

You're fine! I'm 5'9 and FH is just over 6'0. I'm only not wearing heals because we are getting married on a farm and I only wear heels on very rare occasions. Those things would be off my feet the second we say I do. As long as your FH doesn't mind and you are comfortable, go for it!

I seriously don't understand why this would matter in pictures? Are pictures bad when the bride is taller than the groom? That's nonsensical lol

I don't think it's bad at all, and I really hope my post didn't imply that! I'm taller than everyone in pretty much every picture forever, but thought that I would share tricks I've learned in case she was worried about the pictures.

Right??? It's like 20 years from now you're going to look at your pictures and say "oh no, it's all ruined because the fact that I'm taller in these pictures is clearly some slight on his masculinity"

FW is taller than me. It doesn't make me somehow magically more feminine, lol.

Well annakay voiced the thing I was worried about! Some people have those thoughts that the man should be taller, and even though FH says he doesn't mind I don't want him to regret it later..
