How much time should you take off before the day of your wedding? I have plenty of vacation and comp time.

I am getting married on a Saturday, I took Thursday and Friday off and also Monday and Tuesday (we are going on a short honeymoon). I don't get a ton of PTO and I can't afford to take non-paid days.

My FH and I are planning and paying for the wedding ourselves. I plan to take off the Thursday and Friday before our Saturday and the week following. I have also saved lots of comp time and PTO.

We are getting married on October 13th (a Sunday) in Tennessee (we live in Florida). We are driving from Florida on Wednesday night after work and driving through the night to be there Thursday morning. We will be checking into our cabin and then going out to get our wedding license and welcome out of town guests. Most of the wedding party is coming in Thursday night and Friday morning so we plan on partying it up with all our friends in our cabin on Friday (its a 9 bedroom cabin) then Saturday will be going into town with the girls and doing pre-wedding pampering and last minute details to be ready for Sunday then I have the whole following week off for our "honeymoon"

I am taking off the full week before my Saturday wedding in spite of having no vacation or comp time. FH and I wont be able to get to the courthouse to get our marriage license without taking time off thanks to the times we work and traffic. We are required to wait 72 hours (3 days) so in order to pick it up on Friday before the courthouse closes, we would have to go Monday at the latest. With my mother and grandmother coming in from out of state on Wednesday to help with last minute DIY prep, it is better to go to the courthouse on monday and clean/begin packing on Tuesday. Most of wednesday will go to getting mom & grandma from the airport and making sure they get checked into their hotel. With bach parties on Thursday to allow for a decent night's sleep on Friday before being out the door at 8am Saturday, allowing any less time isnt worth the stress.

Since I am off for the summer, I will have time to finish what I need to do for my wedding. It depends on how much you have to do before your wedding can determine how many days you need to take off from work.

Thats the plan... We wanted it to be a big ole party honestly. We love hosting and having friends get together (we usually do something every sunday) so it will be nice to be in a house with all our friends and kids and just having a good time.
