Taking time off work

How much time should you take off before the day of your wedding? I have plenty of vacation and comp time.

I'm getting married on a Sunday so I personally am not taking off any time before because I will have Friday evening and all day Saturday for last minute things. I'm super organized and I have been planning for 18 months so I don't feel like I really need a lot of time before as I already have everything organized and planned out. I think 2 days would be fine but you could do more if you felt like you needed it.

I took the entire week before and the full week after so a total of 2 weeks. I had a lot of time saved up so I enjoyed the week before giving myself time for final details and welcoming out of town guests and then our honeymoon was the full week after.

I don't know if theres really a standard answer for this as it varies by your neeeds.
My FH and I are leaving to make the drive Tuesday/Wednesday so that we have Thursday and Friday in NJ to get our marriage license and take care of last minute things (picking up tuxes, bach parties etc)

I took 3 days off before the wedding. First day was for cleaning up the house. Second day was for making the centerpieces and welcoming out of town guests. 3rd day was for all the last minute running around (alcohol and permits to venue, making the simple syrup for the signature drinks, etc.). This let us get everything done without feeling frantic and gave us buffer room for any 'emergencies'.

I'm taking the full week of the wedding off, but this is also because the wedding is in another state. We'll fly to California Sunday and spend the week putting together last minute details and hanging out with family we rarely see.

My wedding is on a Friday, so I'm obviously taking that day. I'm also taking a half day Wednesday and all day Thursday. I wouldn't have needed Wednesday except I got roped into helping with something at my kids' school Thursday which took away my pedicure/manicure/eyebrow time....so now I'm taking a half day Wednesday to do all that and Thursday will be spent loading up, decorating, and then rehearsing.

I am saving PTO to take a whole week off. A lot of our guests are from out of state so I want to make sure I have some time to spend with them, along with getting any last minute details taken care of. I think it just depends on your situation with guests and your to-do list for the week of.

I am getting married this Saturday and planned to take this entire week off (I had plenty of time saved up at work). I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to finish all projects without feeling stressed. I am actually in really good shape so I am able to incorporate some kind of pampering into each day this week. If you have the time to spare I would recommend going for the week prior (or at least most of the week).

I'm only taking the Friday off prior to my Saturday wedding. My parents are both super involved and are taking the week prior off. We are also going on a two week honeymoon right after the wedding, so I'm trying to save my PTO for that.

I recommend leaving a couple days of comp time completely alone. This way if your flight was delayed, grandma gets sick, you get sick etc you can cover it.

If you can, a week prior because that is the everything from flowers to dress needs to be done. It's like a second job.

Then also try to give yourself a nice honeymoon and post honeymoon.

I'm getting married on a Friday. We have an inclusive venue so I'm really not bringing much to the venue and won't be DIYing anything. The venue is about 45 minutes from us and 4 minutes from a lake so we have rented a cabin on the lake from Thursday to Monday. We are also bringing our dog. I plan on taking off Wednesday to get my nails done and do stuff around the house/get organized. I will be taking off Thursday to go to the cabin and venue. Our rehearsal and RD take place Thursday evening. Friday is our wedding! I probably don't need to take off Wednesday but I share an office with a woman who is 37 years older than me. She is NEVER quiet. I need a quiet day away from her.

I'm getting married on a Friday. I'm planning to take off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (obviously lol). I would have also taken Tuesday, but it seems kinda silly to only have a 1-day workweek, and I think 2.5 days will be plenty of time to get last minute things done. I'm also taking off the Monday and Tuesday of the following week even though we are not going immediately on honeymoon, so that we can have some time to decompress and get our house/life back in order.

I have a TON of things going on this year that require long weekend out of state trips plus 2 cruises in December (1 mini-moon and 1 annual family trip with FH's family) so PTO is in super short supply. I do have the ability to work remote though so I am going to "work from home" the Wednesday before, take Thursday and Friday for last minute things, and the Monday after to decompress since we aren't leaving for our honeymoon for a month.
