Sweetheart Table or Your Whole Squad?

Holaaaaa,

I'm finally at that point where some of my visions for the big day are starting to change. From day one of planning, we've never wanted a sweetheart table for the reception. We love our friends and wanted everyone to sit up there with us (plus it just looks cool lol) but now I'm having second thoughts.

I came across the cutest couple and their sweetheart table that looks pretty similar to my tablescape vision but for just two. The couple in the photo looked absolutely adorable and now all I can envision is me and my future hubby up there; justtttt the two of us. So we can't decide...also we're a party of 12 and I knew we'd need about 3 farm tables to complete the look. It was recently brought to my attention that everyone might not fit in the backdrop which is the big silver accent wall in the last photo. (I guess I should get table measurements now lol)

Anywho, here are some of my tablescape ideas! What are your thoughts? You think we can pull it off? What are you doing for your weddings?

Sweet heart table! Our squad is vips from other groups and we want them to be able to spend time with their friends

I think it depends on a couple of factors... 1. How many of your bridesmaids and groomsmen are married or in a long term relationship with someone not in the wedding party? 2. Does any of the wedding party have kids that will be at the wedding. If the answer is most of them then why separate them from their significant others and/or kids? We are a little older (late 30’s early 40’s) and our entire wedding party are married and have kids. To us it just makes sense for them to sit with their spouses and children. Plus, I do love the idea of a sweetheart table for just me and my love.

We didn’t do either — our head table was us, our siblings and their SOs, our parents, and the officiants. Total of 13 people. The officiants, my sister, and his brother gave speeches / toasts.

The rest of the wedding party sat at the other tables with their SOs and our other friends. Nobody had to separate from their dates. And I think having the wedding party spread out at each table, including some of the back tables, made the other guests feel like there was no bad seat or backup table.

This was a pretty easy decision for us. My family lives across the country and it was important to me to spend quality time with them at the wedding.

Hmm, I would consider it but I would hate everyone just staring at me and fiance up there alone but then again, that would be the whole day LOL.

Also wanted to know, that at the reception table, I feel like even as a bridesmaid, the party never really sits there that long because they're always moving around. After reading comments and seeing photos, I do think it looks cuter having a sweetheart table.

Yeah I forgot to mention all the facts...majority of them are single, from out of town and not bringing dates by choice...oh and we're having a kid free wedding! We've actually decided on the sweetheart table, looking forward to that mini alone time. Thanks!

We are having a King's table. My FH and I sit on one side together in the middle of a long table and our bridal party sits on either side of us with their dates sitting across from them. There will be no one across from FH and myself so we will still be able to decorate with Mr & Mrs signs, etc. We couldn't imagine not sitting with our friends and also didn't want to break up couples either.

Honestly...I love a good sweetheart table. Trust me, you are going to want all the "alone" time you can sneak away to get and focus on eachother.

I am excited about having a sweetheart table. Since we won't see each other until the ceremony I can only imagine all the things we have to talk about lol. So ready to talk smack about what craziness happened and what family member did something crazy while it's still fresh before all the drinks start flowing and the night starts getting fuzzy lol

We tried doing a sweetheart/group table thing. We had a round table set up for us w/ a rectangle table on each side for the wedding party. It looked great, but the execution was awkward. No one really sat at the tables w/ us, and when they did, it was all uneven b/c not everyone was up there at the same time or they had extra people w/ them (i.e. kids). But, the majority of the time everyone was walking around & on the dance floor, so it didn't really matter in the end. If I could re-do that part, I'd do a cute sweetheart table & let my wedding party sit w/ their families & plus ones. I really love those sweetheart tables you posted.

Lol I love the thought of it and the fact that you tried it...it also looked good too! I like how you seperated your table from theirs. And me tooooo...now I feel like we can go all out for our table since we don't have to order so many farm tables, spend a ton on 12 special glasses and pretty forks lol. Just a set of two please 😂

We’re doing a sweetheart table. But we’re having the wedding party and their guests sit at the same table close by ours.
