Summer outside weddings- let's be honest about our sweat

Anonymous, on April 2, 2012 at 4:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Ok, so I am a July bride getting married on a beach in a beautiful full-length gown. But let's be honest, I knew very well that I will be hot and possibly a little sweaty. (little???) I know brides have been throught this before, so I ask you, how is the best way to handle underarm and breast sweat? (yes, i said it) I have heard of deodorant and baby powder. I would think the wedding industry would jump on any idea in this category. What have you found helpful to prevent sweat stains?

Arm & Hammer deodorant. I prefer the unscented. Get the one for men. Same price, same (non) scent and you get more ounces. =)

Ugh, I sweat like crazy. I do not "glisten" in humidity. Honestly the only thing that works for me is to only wear water-based lotions on my skin, and to wear long flowy light cotton dresses. Like natural A/C. Smiley smile

When I was a cheerleader we actually wore cotton pads in strategic places to soak up the sweat. There were these pads with elastic straps on them that actually hooked over your shoulder so you didn't pit out through your uniform. Obviously that won't work for a strapless/sleeveless dress but maybe in your bra? Like - a cotton "chicken cutlet"? Push up and absorption all in one.

My least favorite sweat is the back sweat and the behind-the-knee sweat. Always makes it look like I've just peed my pants. So flattering. Ugh.

Did I mention we just moved from Colorado to Tennessee??? lol.

LMAO at "glisten" My mommom always said ladies don't sweat. Like hell, I sweat like a pig.

Another option to avoid the dreaded bubbie sweat is Lady Monkey Butt powder. I swear the stuff is a godsend for under the bubbies and to prevent chafing. We ride all summer long and I have had massive lakes in my bras and grannie panties.

I also agree with Kris. Use pads in discreet areas.

Oh man, Carole! Motorcycle sweat is the WORST. Motorcycle beauty in general actually. This is new territory for me. I never know what I'm going to look like when I hop off that thing after an hour or two.

I will have to investigate this Lady Monkey Butt powder.

The things we go through. lol.

Kris....I used to wear make-up when we ride. For long distance rides, I totally stopped. I was breaking out. Imagine a 50 year old with zits.

I have been dying to try Clinical Strength Secret. Does anyone know how good it works?

GBAC, August in Colorado is beautiful. Try August in Tennessee. Holy effing swamp-ass batman.

Carole, I have no idea how to approach the motorcycle hair.............it gets pretty swampy under that helmet. My usual cornstarch in the roots trick doesn't work. Plus it can be difficult to discreetly stash cornstarch in your saddlebag.

OMG! Christy. Have you ever tried cornstarch? That's another trick I learned in cheer and gymnastics. Cornstarch rubbed into the fabric of our outfits kept the sweat from really soaking in so badly. Also rubbed into the skin a bit - like on the back of the knees and inside palms. Although you would want to test it on a small area of the fabric first and get it wet. You don't want a clumpy mess in case it repels or something. I think a lot depends on the fabric of your dress.

Cornstarch is fabulous. I use it like dry shampoo when my roots get oily too.

These are great posts! Cornstarch?? How funny! I got that stuff stocked up (stockpile from a coupon website) I can give EVERYONE a bag of it!! HAHAHAHA

I guess the best thing to do is buy every deodorant on the market and get outside and sweat!
