Right now, I'm just full of stupid questions and they aren't worth a new thread. So I'm gonna ask my stupid question, but everyone feel free to jump in with their stupid questions that aren't worthy of a new thread.

My question: Can my groomsmen wear any white shirt that they already own or would that look bad in photos?

Reason I'm asking: we have free Jos. A. Bank money and I was thinking about getting the groomsmen shirts, but I'm kind tempted to tell them to wear any shirt and spend the free money on their vests.

I think that's fine RJMargo. My mom's address is going to be our RSVP address because I'm in a battle with the post office for losing so much of our mail, I just don't trust it for RSVPs. But I'm gonna hand my invite to my parents. Why waste the postage at all. I see them all the time.

Did you do a hair and makeup trial before you booked or did you wait until closer to your wedding? Anyone doing both?

@S&P I'm doing both and I did them before I booked. Didn't want to commit before I was sure about the quality of their work.

S&P- do it sooner rather then later if you haven't booked her yet officially.

I'm doing mine this coming month (I caved lol) so that a.) I know if we work- and b. to do the paper work to secure the date.

My stupid question- how much time does the first look usually take? I'm trying to send my photographer a slightly new time line and I think mentally I put 15 minutes but am giving myself 30 just in case and then we go away for 20 minutes as guests arrive.

30 seems like a LONG time for that.

@S&P, I booked mine before doing a trial. A lot of the places I looked at suggested waiting until closer to the wedding to do the trial.

@JoRocka, I also left about a half hour for my first look. I figure it will only take 10-15 minutes, but am trying to add in some padding to everything. I'm going check with the photographer about it, but I doubt that he will have a problem with allotting 30 minutes. I would do it that way and then see what the photographer says.

Most of my photograhers do a half hour. Don't forget, there is orchestration involved.

So I know that we are supposed to plan to host everyone we invited and I agree with that. Does that include those who do not respond to us once we reach out to them to confirm attendance after our RSVP date has passed with no RSVP from them? Of course, we will give them a deadline to respond our message. I just want to know what my final number should include even though a have a little bit of time until the date.

    Edited for clarity

JSmith2U - Personally, if they haven't returned their RSVP and can't be bothered to get back to you when you reach out - mark them as "no" and don't include them in your numbers.

JSmith2U, I would make them down as a decline unless they reach out to you within the deadline to change it to a yes.

    Kinda daft Q.

There is one store locally that is in budget (well, their BM dresses are. Mostly TrueBride & Sorella Vita - so a rare of lovely colours and neutral shades.) but has 7 dresses I like/suit my shape.

    Is it better to:

Wait till June to try on gowns when my sis is up? (June/July is "ideal time to order" according to this store) Giving me a chance to slim down.

    or

Go ahead of time to narrow down from those 7 as best I can at my current size then go back for the final pick with sis?

Thanks ladies! Miss Geek, I'd wait until June/July.

Wait, MissGeek, is this for your wedding gown? June/July would be 7-8 months. Most places say you need it ordered by then or you are running on a tight timeline. I think it's one of those things that you have to know yourself.

I am the most indecisive person, so I knew I wasn't going to make a decision the first time around. It took me 4 months to purchase a dress. If you HAVE to be purchased by June/July, I would give yourself a little more time.

Can you meet in the middle? Don't wait till June, but go it April to narrow down and then order with your sister in June?

Yeah, it's for the wedding gown. But we're looking in the BM section (they've minimal options in the bridal section) so we were told 4 months minimum or 6 for non-rush orders.

Definitely indecisive, especially when I've got a time crunch about a decision.

Will give them a call just before April, just to give myself a bit of breathing space on the decision. Will probably make for a nicer day with sis if I can offset a bit of stress.
