Right now, I'm just full of stupid questions and they aren't worth a new thread. So I'm gonna ask my stupid question, but everyone feel free to jump in with their stupid questions that aren't worthy of a new thread.

My question: Can my groomsmen wear any white shirt that they already own or would that look bad in photos?

Reason I'm asking: we have free Jos. A. Bank money and I was thinking about getting the groomsmen shirts, but I'm kind tempted to tell them to wear any shirt and spend the free money on their vests.

Stupid question: if I want to send an invite to the President, do I need to include all the inserts? Obviously he's not coming, so I kinda don't wanna waste extra postage or inserts (just in case I have to resend ones that get lost).

@ms geek I think it might be more a style issue than a sardine issue; do you like the chapel or the office or does it matter to you? I've done weddings in chapels with not a lot of people; I think that would be fine.

@Adortamm only if the envelopes and/or the labels are very opinionated, style wise...

@Almost; I think that is a great idea; on a Friday night, many people will come right from work and be starving. Some of my Friday weddings actually do the cocktail hour first, then the wedding ceremony, which also solves the problem of latecomers. Then a little bit more cocktail hour, then dinner. It works out GREAT!

@Natstassia That is what I have seen with brides men. Maybe different color ties.

@Emily; just do it on a need to know basis….

@Childress; managers switch venues all the time. If that is the case, you DO want to have a sitdown with the new guy as soon as you can. She may also be on vacation; this is the year that a lot of that goes on in our industry….

@3lol a couple of days, a week at the most. I would also call them; my contact form has been non functioning for almost a week due to website changes.. Don’t rely on just emails or just a contact form. They CAN screw up and go into the netherworld…. If you call me? You get me within a day if not an hour.

@Rachel; I’ve gotten labels on invites, but rarely. It’s almost always hand written, but I really don’t care one way or the other….

@Jacuelyn. Find a pro, seriously. Then they’ll write it and you don’t have to worry about it. (you knew I was going to say that, right? But every relative who does this has varying degrees of enthusiasm and expertise. Usually none, which leaves the most important part of the day to three people who have not experience.)

    @Sarah. Yes. Tip your stylist.

@Sugar; you do what you want! I’d be introd’d as Mr. and Mrs Sugarunicorn, lol

@Jen. No. But he did come to one of my colleagues weddings, lol…….

Haha thanks, Celia!!! I've heard that it takes a while to get it back, so I was going to send it out way before normal invites went out.

Was he a friend of the bride/ groom? Pretty badass to be partying with the President (regardless of your political stance)

@MissGeek , to offer an alternative opinion, I would prefer the more packed space. It would feel a bit more intimate.

Questions regarding RSVPs: (let me know if you think this is too much for this thread.... I definitely hesitated to ask in a new thread because they are probably stupid!)

What is the guest supposed to write on the "M______" line. Is it "Mr Smith and Mrs Smith" and you've just filled in the first letter for them? Do you fill out those names for them in advance and you've just printed the M?

How does a couple indicate on the typical RSVP card that one of them is coming and the other is not?

And if you're also asking that they specify their meal option, are there any ways to identify who chose what meal? (we want each person's placecard to have their meal option written on it)

Yes the M is for Mrs, Mr or Ms. And based on what they write you will know who's coming. I also added a "number attending" line because I wanted it to be fool-proof. Some of Dan's friends aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. One of them asked if they need to wear the tux to the rehearsal dinner. Smh.

And usually when you have a meal choice, you ask guests to initial their choice. So I would put a JC next to chicken for me and DC next to steak for Dan.

Oh! Okay, we are inviting three people to the wedding: a mother, a father and a daughter. All three of them live in the same house and the daughter is 4. Her last name is the same as the father's, but different than the mother's. How the heck do I address that? For the STD, I put the mom's name first and followed with an and between the dad and daughter's name. Is that right?

Shellbelle, I'm not the best with that kind of stuff but my instinct would be to put:

Mr. John Doe Ms. Jane Smith & Family

ETA: You could also go a little less formal and say "The Doe & Smith Family"

If I buy a return address stamp to use for save the dates and invites...what do I have put on it? Mine and FH's first and last names? I mean obviously we aren't married so I'm assuming Mr. and Mrs. is inappropriate. I guess I just don't know if both of our first and last names will look awkward. This is the stupidest question I've ever asked hahah

@Sarah K., I actually just ordered an address stamp with FH's last name (see photo from Etsy listing - StampLuxe). I know it's not really "appropriate," but I don't care... we have already lived together for years, and I wanted one that could be used after the wedding as well (like when we send Christmas cards, for example). But I have seen a lot with just first names that look fine!

MzRosaLu Oh I love that stamp! You're making me rethink not just doing FH's last name lol. And you're right- it would be nice to use it after the wedding.

@MzRosa I did the same thing! Why waste 25 bucks on a stamp that I will replace once I am married.

@MzRosa, you read my mind. Once we buy a house I'm getting a stamp with his last name. I am not writing this shit out 140 times.

Plus I can use it forever afterwards!

Ahh!! Now I want a stamp. FH and I move so much that I would have to buy a stamp every year. Lol but Pinterest and this post makes me want a stamp lol

    Side note: ally, you're back!!

Our address stamp says "Lindsey and Andrew". I'm still undecided on changing my name, so that its foolproof. As for addressing the invites, if I knew both people, I wrote "Mr bob dole and Ms jane smith", if married with same last name I wrote "mr Bob and Mrs jane dole", if married with different names (a lot of these on my list!) I wrote "mr bob dole and mrs jane smith", if I didn't know both people I wrote "mr bob dole and guest". I don't know about etiquitte, but that's what I did! I printed all of the addresses on my invites, it was easier than writing, and I think it looks nicer than labels. Plus it was just one extra step past labels, I had to create a template instead of downloading the label template.

We are using FH's grandmother's address for our RSVPs, since our mail is sometimes weird and she lives 10 minutes away. We were also potentially moving before the wedding (we aren't anymore) and so we figured putting her address would be easiest. FBIL lives with her. Since the RSVP address is hers, is it rude to not put a stamp on her and FBILs RSVP envelope? Not trying to be cheap as I know it's only $1 worth of stamps, but seems like a waste, since the RSVPs are going to their house.
