Still having issues with wedding planner

Kiyome, on October 5, 2022 at 11:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hey everyone. I made a post about our DJ and wedding planner a little while ago. I really wanted to drop our wedding planner because she takes forever to respond, and still hasn't got back to me about a lot of our vendors. We are only 2 months away from our wedding date and we aren't in contact with an officiant or the caterer. Also, just over a month ago, our wedding planner said she would contact us at the end of September to talk about getting payments set up. Well, it's already into October and she still hasn't said anything until I reached out by email saying we wanted to get the ball rolling and payments set up. Her assistant replied saying our wedding planner had time to talk today. Well, we were busy today and I didn't see the email in time. I am so upset and I would have hired a completely different wedding planner if my fiance wasn't so worried about losing the money. I keep saying that the red flags are getting worse, but I don't think he realizes just how bad the situation is and could be as we get closer and closer to the wedding. I really want to hire a new planner because I've addressed what expectations I had with our wedding planner before and she still isn't on top of things. Am I just overreacting? What do I do? I was so excited for our wedding and now I'm worried it won't be as great as I was hoping...

A planner is there to eliminate stress for you and all she is doing is CAUSING the stress! If she can’t even set up a payment plan for HER to get paid how will she be on the actual wedding day. I say trust your gut, and find a new one. It might end up costing you money but in the end you need to figure out what is more important saving money or having a planner that actually is there for you. I can’t see the red flags going away.
I’m so sorry you are going through this, it’s a terrible situation to be in.

Well....having a planner is for the purpose of not having so much stress. It clearly sounds like this isn't the case. You 2 deserve to be stress free and able to focus on other matters. I can't say it enough...... it's not about the money. Sometimes you'll have to make some hard decisions but in the end your sanity is most important!

As a novice wedding planner, it is completely unprofessional for her to be out of touch with her clients. Two months out is not too late for you to find another planner- especially if the ball isn't rolling on the vendors! I would keep documentation of your communication and request a full refund based on the lack of professionalism and communication- and the fact that she wasn't doing her job! Please find someone that would do your wedding day justice- and it sounds like she may be too busy to keep up with her clientele. A wedding planner should be all of the things these ladies have mentioned and if she's not, then she's not doing her job- which means you should not be required to pay her. I hope you are able to get things sorted! I'm in the Knoxville area- if you're anywhere near me, shoot me an email at **************@*****.*** and I'll be happy to help in any way I can!

Yes. I completely agree. I just reached out to a ton of wedding planners, so hopefully someone can help us plan our wedding on such short timing. I hope we can find someone better❤️

Thank you very much! Yeah I will have to see if it will work out. Some of our conversations were over the phone though, so I'm not sure that bit will work out.

You definitely are not over reacting! Did you sign a contract with her that spells out expectation’s? I personally was my own wedding planner and fun doing it. I’d cut her loose as she doesn’t seem to be fulfilling her obligations in a timely manner. Sorry your going thru this stress.

Go with your gut…. Our wedding planner stabbed us in the back at the VERY last minute. Can I ask who you are using? We had a great wedding weekend regardless but I went with my gut
And followed up With my vendors. She caused me
Nothing but stress. And out $2000.
