Std's for a destination wedding?

Mandi, on May 15, 2018 at 12:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Anxiety!!! The date is almost exactly a year away and we are just starting the guest list. We are having a destination wedding. When do I send the STD? I want to give guest enough time to plan but I feel like I'm rushing. I also don't want to send them out too soon.

I would send them out either this month, June or July (at the latest).

Usually 10 to 12 months in advance is a good way to go.

We had a DW, we sent them out in January for a November wedding.

For a DW I would say a year, but no later than 10 months out.

We're having a DW (Florida though, not international) and sent ours 9 months in advance. All our VIPs knew before that.

We have a lot of guests traveling for our wedding and decided to send them at the 10 month mark.

If I was invited to a destination wedding, especially in Summer, I'd like to have a year's notice! It depends on your guests. I think guests for younger weddings prefer more notice, especially for traveling, so they can save money. But I think a year in advance is not a bad thing! Then you'd have awhile before worrying about invitations.

Hi! We sent our Save the dates out 12 months in advance. We are planning on sending invites out 6-8 months in advance.

We didn't even think about STD's when we were planning...just didn't even think about it literally lol. We wanted to give our guests plenty of time to save up to go so we just sent out invites. Apparently WAY too early. Oops. Personally I don't mind that we skipped the STD's and just went to invites since we set the RSVP date pretty early as well to get a rough head count to plan. If I was to do it over again and had a year to plan I would have done the STD's and added a website on them and then sent the invites a little later.

Maybe 3-4 months before? I think once Save the Dates are out, people start making plans to come. Do you have a wedding website? That will help people with hotel & flight information too.
