Stay away from future spouse night before the day?

Kristen, on May 31, 2020 at 5:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 45

Just curious (mostly because my brain is figuring out how to get my hair and make up done the day of) but did anyone or is anyone planning to spend the night before the big day away from your future spouse? Just curious.

We did, and it was so much fun. It was exciting and gave us a chance to be with our girls/guys the night before and morning of. And I honestly needed a good night’s sleep and some alone time after the craziness of that whole week. Then when we finally saw each other it was so special.

I plan on it! We’ve lived together for 6 years so I think one night away will make the wedding day so much more playful and fun!
    I say go for it!

We spent the night separately. Originally I was going to sleep at home and my husband was going to sleep at the hotel, but then last minute I wanted to stay at the hotel so we switched.

I was the type to not care. Sure I wanted to surprise him with how I looked on the day of the wedding, but I didn’t think it would affect it negatively if we just woke up together and then he left right after. But he was super adamantly wanting to not see me until I was down the aisle, so we separated.

I’m glad we were apart, especially because I had trouble sleeping (I woke up at like 4:45am and couldn’t fall back until 8) so I was glad to be alone and able to get up freely and play on my phone and watch videos and stuff to try to relax and fall back asleep.

My only regret is that I actually wish I had stayed at home and not the hotel. The hotel was not as comfortable as I hoped... I’m a super light sleeper, so once the sun rose it was really hard for me to sleep (at home I have blackout curtains) and the hotel is on a main road so the cars driving by kept me up too.

    Just trust your gut!

My husband and I stayed at our wedding venue (a hotel) the night before. He stayed with his best man and one of their other friends and I stayed with my grandparents. After the rehearsal dinner, we went back to the hotel said hi to family that came in early for the wedding then went our separate ways. I didn't see him again until our first look. I did talk to him on the phone once the morning of the wedding because the best man didn't answer his phone and I needed my husband's ring for the detail photos.

Yes I am! We have an air bnb near the venue. Me and my MOH will be staying there the night before while my fiancé is at home. Then my and new hubby will stay there the wedding night and night after until we leave for the honeymoon. I think it will be more exciting to not get to see him until our first look.

Well, once we arrived on our DW, he will be with the boys, and I will be with the girls. 2 nights not seeing each other before the wedding.

We stayed together and I’m glad we did because it helped a lot with my anxiety.

It's silly but mine is more of a make up and hair logistics more than being a way from him lol. Since we are marrying on a Sunday and going back to work the next day since a week later we are taking a whole week for our honeymoon I was thinking to get an air bnb the night before the day so I have a place to get my hair and make up done as the venue charges an extra $200/hr outside of the 3 hrs we have it for. I can get two nights in an air bnb for that one hour of price. I would love to have a final night with my MOH and maybe even a couple of other friends and make a day of it too. Sounds like it would be something fun to do Smiley smile. Thanks ladies.

I’m not sure. We have briefly talked about it And we’re super clingy lol haven’t spent a night alone in 5 years (our whole relationship) but I was wondering if we would spend our night before separate or not. There is going to be roughly 6 people accompanying us and we plan to pay for a rental home for everyone to stay with us-with that, we thought of spending the night in separate rooms with our friends like she sleep with some and i room with the others 😊 nothing set in stone yet though❤️

We were together. Even though our venue was only about 20 minutes away, we opted to stay at the hotel a mile away since we were already there for the rehearsal dinner. We have lived together for years, so we actually sleep better when sharing a bed rather than apart since we are so used to each other. I got my hair and makeup done at the salon, so I didn't worry about that part.

Awwww that is cute and understandable. Silly enough mine is partially logistics of having my HMUA come and do my stuff since their salon is closed on Sundays. I of course love the idea of time with my bestie and having someone come to me but really I still love sleeping next to him even if he take the covers ha ha.

Sadly the salon I booked does not open on Sundays plus it is a little out of the way to where my venue is. I was considering another venue but when I responded back with a couple of questions in the contract (granted this was before things shut down) I never heard back and I am not one to chase someone to give them money. Ya know...maybe I will ask my place if they are open but I did want to get robes for my friend and I and I feel it awkward driving in a car to get hair and make up done and a bridal robe lol.

Would they be willing to open it up for you? I used the salon I normally do, and the owner actually offered to open it early for me and my bridal party. They may not want to, and I would understand, but it may actually be easier for them if they don't have to carry their whole big set up to a hotel room.

LOL even if we were same sex I am just old school of wanting everything being a surprise until he sees me walking down the aisle. No first looks or anything. Probably cheesy but I want my whole look to be a surprise. I considered just doing it at home but nah plus I like some girl time with the artist and my best friend before ha ha. Are you two getting ready together? That can be super fun!

I am thinking of asking them that. The whole getting ready in robes idea I would like would not work but not the end of the world. The drive would not be the worst and would save money in the long run over renting a hotel. I can try again but at the time I think they said they are closed on Sundays and only do on site.

Yeah, they may or may not want to, but it doesn't hurt to ask lol. I didn't do robes. Everyone just wore whatever they were comfortable in. I knew I was never going to wear a random robe ever again and I doubted my girls would either, so for me they weren't worth the money.

That is good point. I was planning to get one without the titles on it just a robe that she can wear whenever. I am lame but even for eloping I still want the fun experience. Even if I go there I would like something special for her as her gift or at least for me ha ha. I am not spending on a full wedding so I am splurging where I can ha ha.
