Spray/air brush tan FAILURE

So, I did it. I got an airbrush tan (I think - it was sprayed on me but by a person, not a machine). The girl who did it was relatively pale and had a nice, light, natural looking tan. That's what I wanted. Instead, I am currently researching how to get this Oompa Loompa look OFF. That was my first...

Instead, I am currently researching how to get this Oompa Loompa look OFF.

That was my first and last faux tan. I will now embrace my paleness.

I get a spray tan before ALL my dance competitions and have never had a problem. It will seem really orange the day you get it and it's supposed to the be that way. It needs time to "set" and then you get in the shower 24 hours after then tan and the access stuff comes off.

The girl I go to is really, really good. If the girl you worked with was new or inexperienced she may have sprayed it on way too heavy. But, keep in mind that it needs 24 hours to set and then take a shower. If you don't like the color, take a shower right away so you don't give it time to set in.

I agree with you on the tanning bed J&R. I plan on getting Tan Towels. You apply yourself and can control the color. Reminds me I need to order them now for a test run.

I'm glad it works for you, Dancing Bride, but this is 2 days and 3 scrubbing showers later, and I still look like a carrot. Just doesn't work for some people.

@J & R, I'm in the former half of my 30s.... Smiley smile But I am SO pale from working inside all the time, and we've been in the high 90s since May, I'm not laying out in that heat!

@ Dancing Bride - It looked pretty good, the color wasn't bad, not orangey, but every one of my pores looked like it had a blackhead as it faded. It was GROSS looking. And I exfoliated. Heavily. Guess maybe my pores are just too deep for it....

Guess I'm gonna try this place the lady at my laser hair removal place suggested. If this doesn't work, I"m going for broke with the tanning bed. Judge me if you will, but I don't want to be the pastey looking one in my beach wedding photos Smiley smile

    I'll try that - thanks!

LOL, a friend of mine just suggested I add some black stripes and roar like a tiger. Hey, if people are going to stare, might as well give them a good reason!

No judgment, just a health PSA. My skin is too sensitive at this point - I would damage instantly. Hard to believe I could get a dark tan as a kid.

And Mrs. S. to Be, judging from your picture, you'd look pretty tan next to me. There is the rare true redhead here and there who is paler than me, but besides them and albinos, it doesn't get much paler.

J&R S. you make me laugh. At least you have a good attitude. I would like to even out some tan lines, ( I'm pretty pale, but have some lines). I remember the QT orange. Self tanners- I always get streaks. Might have to try Natural Glow.

Natural Glow is by Jergens. It's a gradual tanning lotion, it even has a little shimmer to it when used regularly Smiley smile again, love it! they even have one for your face (I think it has SPF in it too) and it moisturizes your skin at the same time. I think the lotion is what helps prevent the streaking, but I usually apply regular lotion first anyway.

I have one by...Aveeno, I think? And I've had the Jergens. Both work well, but barely show up on me, and I can't use them on my face. But..they work well!

You can mix sugar and lemon juice, making scrub, and scrub your body. The lemon juice will help to get the color off your skin and the sugar scrubs a little bit harshley, but it works pretty well.

@ Brandi - very true! Lemon is a natural way to even out skin tone through bleaching Smiley smile

Wow! that sucks!!! I can vouch for bad tans... National Figure Competitor here (so i know better than ANYONE what an Ooma Loompa feels like only with much LESS clothing) SO YES the Magic eraser works! of The MR Clean variety, in your nearest grocers cleaning aisle. DO NOT scrubb with loofas..., your skin piils off naturally and if you force it to come off before it is ready you WILL look like a lepper!!! Only use the eraser on clean dry non moisturised skin. Use mild soap ivory or dove (not antibacterial or fragrant), they contain dyes , preservatives, and moisturizers that will help to retain ANYTHING they touch! Use a wash cloth after soaking in a warm, NOT hot bath for 20 minutes, once a day for a week, and twice a week use a mix equal parts 1/2 c epson salt, sugar and 1/4c olive oil and GENTLY exfoliate stubborn areas. This is a picture of a comp tan gone bad without enough time to treat it and has been re sprayed...

Funny that you posted this. I was watching "Whose Wedding is it anyways" the other day and this happened to a bride too. The planner's suggestion?

TOOTHPASTE! Use a loofah and rub/wash toothpaste over your body. You might smell minty and tingle but at least you'll feel extra fresh Smiley smile

@J&R- yeah then you would probably fricasee and that's bad... Smiley smile Go with the fake tan, just find a good place to do it. Look for a place that does what's called "body Bronzing". They match the formula to your skin tone.
