Spent Money Regrets?

Hello Everyone! Just wondering if anyone has any regrets about spending money on something they now feel was unnecessary? Or... conversely, was there anything you wish you added to your wedding celebration but didn't?

I regret spending money on Save The Dates. Most of our guests were not from out of town.

I'm kind of going back and forth on wishing I had a videographer. On one hand, I love our photos. On the other, the night went by so fast and I feel like it was hard to take it all in. Sometimes I wish I could relive it in video format.

We just went to a wedding last night and i'm pretty sure my friend and I were the only ones that grabbed a cupcake off the table! They had sooo many left!

Save the dates. They weren't expensive, but after sending them we had to send invites to those people and eliminate others. I wish we would have spent more time on the guest list in the beginning!

As of right now we don't regret anything. We set a budget and have stuck to it. Thankfully I planned weddings at Marriott for over 12 years so I felt like I had a good idea on what was a non negotiable and what was a waste of money. We're currently under budget so we're happy!! Smiley smile

So far no regrets, but I think I'm going to regret not doing videography, so I might hire one. Gotta talk to FH first thougg

I regret my save the dates. They are very nice but don't think I really need them.

I regret buying shoes so early. I found these gorgeous blue heels online early on and went ahead and ordered them. They're super uncomfortable and taller than I thought they'd be, but I still thought I'd wear them for the ceremony. Now I just really want comfy flats, and it's too late to return the shoes.

My hall provides the cake, it's included in our package. I was adamant I wanted a cake from my dream bakery. After reading the posts here I will stick with my free cake. My budget says thank you. I am kinda regretting we didn't just use the free florist that came with the hall. She provides the submerged flowers with a candle type centrepiece, I decided I didn't like them. We went to a wedding recently that had the same centrepieces and they didn't look bad at all. That is $4k I could have saved if I wasn't so damn hasty.

Transportation. We had a party bus for the bridal party and a shuttle to and from the hotel. I wish we would have cut the time for the party bus, it was hot, he kept taking wrong turns and we barely used it, just to and from taking pictures.

Honestly, most things. We spend so much money, and people/vendors still let us down.

Our DJ/photo booth lost all of our photos.

The venue messed up the seating/tables so it took almost 45 minutes to get everyone a seat for dinner delaying everything else. The food was eh, partially since we were so delayed, and partially I think they just weren't prepared for hosting the event the promised us.

My hair fell out and had to be completely redone before we even did first look.

Things I don't regret for a minute are our amazing officiant, the extra expense on the cake and cookies since they were AMAZING. And the hotel we stayed in. We stayed Friday - Monday and our dog stayed there too (Hilton garden inn - I try to only stay at those now).

It's not really a regret, but an unexpected expense. We are spending $1000 for a ceremony and cocktail hour musician (from 5:45-7:30). We were planning on like $350 for an hour before and during the ceremony, but this guy is amazing. When FH heard him play, he insisted we book this guy and make room in our budget later. I'll be walking down the aisle to one of his original songs.

I wish I would have waited to buy tablecloths until we got closer. Instead I bought them for what I assumed would attend, and we have like six less tables than I anticipated. Plus, I changed my mind on what material I wanted for certain tables and didn't think about the length I needed for the head table so now I have a bunch of extra tablecloths I won't use. I don't regret buying them instead of renting, because it was still less expensive and we have someone already interested in buying them from us when we're done with them, but I still wish I would've waited ha.

ETA: oh, also my veil. I seriously regret not getting a cathedral length one. I like my fingertip one, I do, but I've seen so many beautiful photos lately that made me regret not buying one.

I regret getting STDs. Although I'm having a DW, it caused a lot of confusion as some of my family members thought they were invitations and some were offended they didn't get one.

Not a regret but something we were so happy we did was get donuts instead of cake! We got 2 dozen EXTRA and had none left, not too mention it was way more affordable than cake. We got a small one tier cake for us from a local bakery which was delicious.
