Spent Money Regrets?

Jan N., on July 1, 2017 at 12:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 48

Hello Everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has any regrets about spending money on something they now feel was unnecessary? Or... conversely, was there anything you wish you added to your wedding celebration but didn't?

We were regretting our DJ choice (he's really pricey) but we met with him on Monday and we know we made the right choice!

Regret having dessert and cake ... we had soooo much leftover, we could have done without one or the other.

As of right now I'm regretting not spending the extra money on real flowers. (We are using sola flowers for bouquets and centerpieces) But we'll see when the wedding day actually comes.

Oh man, I'm so sad everyone is saying cake! We had 185 servings for 160 guests and only three pieces were left! But it was sooo good. I myself don't even like cake, but I loved my wedding cake!

There really isn't anything I don't think was worth it, but I got sick of spending money about 3 months before the wedding and didn't do everything I had planned. So, no signs, no decor except flowers, very simple favors, and no selfie booth. Now, I'm so glad we didn't do those things because I don't think anyone missed them!

I wish we would have spent the money to get a videographer for the ceremony. Our pictures are perfect but being the last one to walk, I missed a good chunk of the ceremony.

I wish we wouldn't have spent so much on our honeymoon. We both ended up hating Jamaica.

I'm so happy we spent the extra for the photo booth. So many great moments captured! Our guests were able to keep a copy of their photos and a second copy was placed into a photo book for us. Super cute idea.

I bought some decorations early on before we had finalized our venue. We ended up going with a venue that doesn't need decorating (it's a greenhouse) and provides centerpieces. I'm trying to figure out something to do with all the pretty votives and vases I got.

We are having an evening wedding for 2 reasons: the venue is a working greenhouse until 6 pm so their events typically start at 7 and it is very hot here in the summer and the sun goes down late (9:30 pm on our date). Once it does go down, it is lovely. I'm pretty happy about this timing, but it's hard on people with little kids. I have one friend who will leave after the ceremony because she has a 2-year-old, even though I asked if she'd like us to make a nap area, or bring someone to take the baby home early, or even have us get a sitter. My feelings are hurt and it's making me wish we had paid the venue an extra $1,000 to start a couple of hours earlier.

The wedding hasn't happened yet but I have a feeling I'm going to wish we had a videographer or shuttle, though they are not at all in the budget.

Yes. I spent money on save the dates and getting new dresses instead of changing the backs to corsets and wished that I had a videographer instead.

Funny, we're doing a dessert table and about two weeks ago nixed the cake idea too. Reading through the comments makes me feel better about it!

I think if we could have cut back anywhere it would have been on the invitations. They were beautiful but definitely something we could have saved on.

Yes my aunt as a gift to us spent money on ceremony programs with one of my sister name on it with the kids who all bailed on me at the last minute. Know they are being redone.

I had veil regret.. At least the 1st one was only $30 and the one I loved was only $20. I also never got around to tossing my bouquet or garder.. we had too much fun dancing and forgot!

I don't truly regret any decisions we made but when you look at the the full picture and realize you spent $30k on one day it's like holy $&@?!!!!

I had to take my veil off once we got to our venue because of the wind so that's $350 I could have saved.

We spent $1000 on favors which everyone loved but seriously, $1000 on favors? I think you get to a point where you just say yes to everything because you are too tired to weigh the pros and cons anymore.

Honestly I don't regret anything. I spent 40k but everything was freaking perfect. The only thing I wish I had done was hire a different hair and makeup artist. I feel like they didn't listen to what I wanted and they could have done a better job. Otherwise I loved everything. I guess if I had to cut anything I could have cut the uplighting? But I loved that too. Definitely don't regret the cake or my videographer. I loved everything.
