Sparkler send off.....insurance needed!

Christy, on March 7, 2018 at 4:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Just to inform all of those looking to do your send off with sparklers......small detail I completely looked past. You need event insurance to cover sparklers. Even with that some have exclusions on sparklers because of the incidents that occur frequently. Our venue told us to check with our homeowners insurance first as sometimes it is covered within the policy at no extra charge.

I feel like its one thing after another! Individual insurance she said is around $300-$400 per event. So we are checking with our homeowners, but if not covered then the sparklers go back and we will have to think of something else. Just heads up!

This may be a venue specific scenario. My venue didn't allow sparklers, but one venue that we looked at did and nothing was ever mentioned verbally or in the contract about insurance. It's something for sure worth bringing up to a potential venue though!

Yeah this is only true if your venue requires it. Definitely a good thing to bring up!

My venue requires event insurance regardless, but to add event insurance to my current renters insurance plan, it was literally $5 added to my plan ($1,000,000 coverage, which again is required by my venue)!

I agree with FME I think this is just specific to your venue. My venue didn't require extra insurance for sparklers. We did need event insurance because we served alcohol but it was only $126 through Progressive since I have them for my car.

My venue doesn't allow sparklers so we are doing glow sticks instead. (Kind of fits for us anyway because we met at an electric music festival lol)

I know it was a couple years ago but do you remember who you used for insurance?
