Spanx (Plus Size Brides)

I bought Spanx after a lady recommended them to me. I do like them a lot. I made sure to get ones that would go under my bra, and only a bit down my thigh since I'll be in a floor length gown you won't see it. Haha. Also I like the way it tightened up some areas. I'm having the hardest time losing weight since my son, and I actually really like them. I bought them at Torrid. Maybe you can start your search there?

Ha - I ordered a pair from www.barenecessities.com and wore them yesterday. I definitely felt "smoother" but I wouldn't say I felt less large.

that's what I wore, and while I knew it was there, I never felt like I needed to adjust it.

I bought spanx just for the purpose of trying on wedding gowns to help smooth me out. I'm not sure if I will wear them on the big day though as they kept rolling down on me and got hot.

I actually wore it underneath a dress that you could see EVERYTHING through. It helped smooth me out, but like Merfy Lou said, it didn't decrease my size at all. Just made the outside of the dress look smoother, as opposed to seeing my panty lines and my stomach (it was a velour sheath, and literally just hangs on you).

I agree with the other ladies. They smooth you out, but don't make you any smaller. I might just wear a pair of the ones that aren't as high waisted for the wedding. My dress is a corset so it does a good job of smoothing me out on its own, but my thighs rub together so spanx would help me have a lot less skin friction.

I bought the actual Spanx from Lane Bryant for my wedding day. See the pic below. The only problem is they have a gussett. I drink beer. Yu only rent beer, so I was praying I wouldn't have to wear them on he day of. I couldn't imagine peeing through a hole. I managed to loose some last minute weight & got away with long line pantyhose from Sears. They are awesome for smoothing a person out. I have never worn those Spanx.

For my daughters wedding.... I bought 2 types of undergarments.

1. Flexees wear your own bra goes up to 38D. It has a slip and it snaps at the crotch. I love it. I wore it out dancing and never had a riding issue. The only problem is that the straps are wide, so I can't wear them with the MOB dress(spaghetti straps).

2. Flexees strapless slip in a 38 D. It has optional straps. Love it.

Agreed^^^ They're good for creating a certain look, but I felt suffocated, hot, and like a sausage. Torrid is where I got mine from also.

So,

First check out Sears Long Line control panty hose and see if they will slim you.

PLaces you can find actual Spanx.....Lane Bryant and the website. If you are in between sizes, go the higher size. They are a real byatch to put on and will give you muffin top.

Carol M's pic is what I have. They fit true to size so follow the package. I love the high waisted brief. I feel smoother and no lumps around the underwear line etc. Highly recommended. I saved having to pee to once after a lot of alcohol and then when I was going to bed. Trying to wiggle into these things after being dressed is impossible. I also refused to try to pee through a hole haha

I have spanx and love it. Yes it smoothes out...for ME, i love that it goes up to my bra, i kinda tuck it underneath and it doesn't go anywhere, no rolling. It's wierd to have the crotchless thing going on.... but its all good, honestly, i make my day difficult and pull it down and back up to go potty. lol... but i tried the ones with the straps that go UNDER your bra, like in Caroles #2 pic. i personally hated it, it kinda hurt near my armpit, like the inside, closer to my boobs, just awkward for me. I am wearing one on the day of wedding, cause i dont want my fatty-bo-batty thighs to rub together all day and SPANX is awesome for smoothness and NO rubbage! lol

Oh and its not super hot to wear, i wore it to a funeral in SOUTH FL, under a 3/4 sleeve length dress, lol.... i was warm, but no thigh burn

Jessica London sells a tube dress shaper slip. It supposedly has some type of moisturizer to help put it on. It went on easier when I tried it on. However, it did nothing to hold "the girls" up.So, it went back.

I have been wearing panty girdles of some sort or another since I was a teen that weighed 98 lbs. I just like the smoothness it gives.

I had to remove the spanx.. Once before I was too drunk to stand for pee #1 and 2nd when I was going to bed... However I slightly remember falling a few times on round 2.

Spanx are awesome!

They are super comfortable. and really smooth you out. If there is a Lane Bryant near you they have different styles you can try on.

I bought a spanx dress at Burlington Coat Factory that is this Marilyn Monroe design, and omg. It is so. flippin. SEXY!!! FH absolutely loves it, since it is all black with a tan/black lace hourglass front. It makes me look slim and (healthy) voloptuous with or without clothes

Mine is this but tan instead of red. I kinda wish it wasn't so....under-garmenty, cuz paired with my black heels I look smokin'!!! Hope this helps

I have some knock-off spanx that are amazeballs...im not sure where they are from tho. my mom had them, and i think they are just from a dept store. but they sucked me in so much i went down a size. i wore them when i was a BM. i hate "chub rub" when i have on a dress from where my thighs rub together. I dont think I am going to wear them under my dress. There is really no reason for me to. Plus wedding dresses are already hot as it is, I dont need another layer.

Plus I want to be somewhat comfy and be able to dance and have fun all night, not worried about my spanx rollinig down and trying to pee through a tiny hole.
