Soooo let me start out by saying that my parents are paying for most of the wedding/reception. Our reception is in the backyard of my parent’s house. We are going for more of a relaxed/fun BBQ feel. We are serving buffet style Polynesian food. I wanted to purchase drink holders (something like the picture below). Well last night my Dad tells me that he doesn’t want to spend 30.00 a piece for those (we would need to buy 4). SO he asked me if I would be fine if we just did cans of pop!? I straight up told him no way!!! (like a bridzilla). But I started thinking about it.. and I’m wondering if you ladies think that would be to ghetto? Be honest please…

I like the glass bottle idea better but I don't think cans are ghetto. It's fine for your style of reception. I wouldn't think twice if I were a guest.

Don't like cans, though one of my couples used a canoe for an ice bucket and it was really cute.

These are on sale right now at bed bath and beyond for $20. With the $5 coupon it makes them only $15. Hope this helps...

Woo, FH and I are ghetto!!! We have so many cans of pop and plan on getting more. I should change my board name from Lirana to Ghetto Fabulous.

Since you're having a backyard bbq, I don't see anything wrong with cans of pop. I agree with the others about just displaying them in a neat way.

Alright. Thank you everyone. I'll talk with FH. I think we might go with the cans.

I'm having a BBQ reception too. I don't think sodas are tacky. I am using a large metal tub that I will put the sodas in. I am also using the drink containers like you have pictured for infused water before the ceremony and water and tea during the reception. If you don't want cans, buy 2 liters and make them pour sodas into cups or something. Or if it bothers you that much, just omit sodas all together and serve lemonade and punch or something. It's your wedding..your call! I honestly wouldn't stress over something that trivial. If people judge you because you have sodas, I think they kinda suck.

How about those foam can holders? You could probably cheaply get your names put on them as favors, or maybe buy them in your wedding colors? If not, I don't think people will be turned off by cans at a BBQ-type events.

Definitely don't do the holders for soda, but they'd be nice for iced tea or lemonade or even water,

Go for glass bottles! A little classier than cans and a very retro feel!

If you do go with cans or bottles, have extra trashcans or if possible recycling cans to toss the empties into.

I do think it would be less expensive to get the containers and fill with lemonade and tea. Think about how much will be wasted by people forgetting where they put their can...

If you are going to have soda (which many will like) I would go with bottles that can be put into cups, or see if you can find old fashion glass bottles.

I like the cute tub idea too. I went to a wedding and they filled a canoe with ice and put the cans of pop in that. I wouldn't suggest putting pop in those containers. They are pretty cute though, what about flavored water? Put water and fruit in it and the fruit will make the water taste really good! There are so many fruits you can add. Have you tried craigslist?

I think you need some sort of soda at the wedding anyways, so if you don't have a soda fountain (which I assume you don't since it's a backyard wedding), then I would do either bottles or cans. We will have canned pop at our outdoor wedding, though our bartender will be handing them out, and pouring them for those who prefer to drink it from a glass.

Do you have a Bjs/Sams Club/Costco near you? We bought those drink canisters for fairly inexpensive from there (for lemonade, etc)

There is nothing wrong with cans...if you put soda in those jugs it will go flat and who likes flat soda.
