Small Christmas wedding

I don’t want a big wedding but wanted to be married in my church. Any ideas? I don’t really want a big reception but my fiancée is pushing for it.

Congratulations on your engagement Heather! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!!

It’s perfectly fine to not want a big wedding, it’s not something that everyone wants, but as you mentioned, the trouble comes when one person wants one and the other doesn’t. This is definitely a conversation that you are going to have to have with your FS. You should both try and discuss the reasons for wanting what you want. Why do they want a big wedding? Do they feel like it’s a tradition? Have they always wanted a big wedding?

The same goes for you not wanting a big wedding. You should try and explain why exactly you don’t feel like it’s for you. Do you not want to be the center of attention? Do you feel like it will be too expensive?

Obviously, both of you are completely entitled to your opinion but it may be easier to agree on a compromise once you both understand where the other is coming from.

I hope this will be helpful to you!

It’s winter in Buffalo. I think it would be hard to invite more than those currently involved in our lives in addition to family. I’ve read ideas about renting a large house instead of an actual venue and just hosting a casual party.
