Small Beach Wedding in Naples, Florida

Mark, on August 30, 2010 at 2:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Dear all,

My finacee and I are from the UK and would like to have a beach wedding in November 2011 in Florida. We have been reading up on the internet and note that Naples or Marco Island are popular locations (although any others suggestions would be welcomed).

We are looking to have a small wedding with close family only so there will be myself and finacee and six others (parents and siblngs).

There seem to be so many vendors in Florida we are finding it hard choosing. We are hoping to start by booking the venue though. We would ideally like a sunset wedding.

Please could anyone who has been married in Florida and had a beach wedding provide any advice or recommendations?

Many thanks

Mark

I spend 5 years in St. Petersburg FL and highly recommend it! I am not sure if you are planning on renting a house, staying in a hotel, and what your budget is. Naples is very pretty but also kinda expensive. What part of the UK are you from? I was born in England Smiley smile. Anyway, if you are thinking of St. Pete, let me know.

    Hi Gemma,

    Thank you for your reply.

We are from Leeds, Yorkshire in the UK.

We really are quite flexible but my fiancee would like a beach wedding ideally at or just before sunset for the photos. We were originally planning on renting a house for all of us then getting a beach wedding package but understand it may be necessary to do it through a hotel so they can section off a bit of beach.

Would certainly consider St Pete, how does it compare to Naples?

In terms of budget we are not really sure what it would cost in Florida but can balance it with the cost of our evening do in the UK when we return.

    Mark

I have just started researching Florida weddings. One of the vendors here gave me two suggestions for wedding planners who work primarily in beach weddings, their websites are below. I strongly suggest you work with someone who knows the area the way these people do, and can ensure that you have everything necessary to have a beautiful wedding (marriage license, beach permit, etc). It will make it much less stressful. Congratulations on your engagement, and happy planning!

Sanibel is also a great place to get married if your lloking for beach. ( I live in the city right next to naples) Sanibel resorts provide small intimate packages.

If you are interested in a beach wedding, the East Coast of Florida is beautiful too. We are doing a beach wedding this coming weekend in Miami at the National, right on South Beach - only 35 guests...bride is from Ohio...

There are beautiful areas in Delray Beach, Palm Beach, Boca Raton.

My first suggestion would be to determine your budget and then look for a planner in that area.

I am happy to answer any questions and help in anyway possible. Even if you decide to go over to Naples and Marco Island I am happy to help you find a good planner over there.

Mark, I'm a wedding officiant and cover Manatee & Sarasota Counties on the west coast of Florida (not as far north as Tampa/St. Pete and not as far south as Naples).

I went to a beach sunset wedding in Naples Florida last May, it was wonderful! The area is beautiful. They did it at "the club", not sure which, but I don't think there are many. It was on the beach, everyone took off their shoes for the ceremony. Immediately followed by a pool side cocktail hour and dinner/reception in the hall. Very elegant!

Look into Rosemary Beach, off of 30A. It's between Destin and Panama City. Adorable place, if I could afford it, that's one of the two places I would have our wedding Smiley smile
