slight typo on invites...FREAKING out!!!

Stephanie, on July 29, 2011 at 1:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28

I toiled over these invitations, making sure every flippin detail was perfect. I proof read, had FH proof read, had brother in law who is a graphic designer proof read and thought ok, they are ready for print. Brother in law changed some wording on the directions so I cut and pasted it in, but did not read it before hand, stupid bride brain, basically the direction reads..

“Make a Make a right”…

and then continues with the directions. So the first two words are duplicated. I am such a perfectionist and I am feeling like a total looser, I’m having a total meltdown. Am I overreacting? Should I reprint, FH says No Way, I’m on the fence?? What do you guys think?

Is there anyway you could cover the first "Make a" with something without it looking out of place?

Have you tried calling the place that printed them? I'm sure there's someone who would probably understand and be willing to help you out...DON'T ever start at the bottom...specifically talk to a manager.

I'm sure nobody will be thrown off by that...if anything they will just be like 'hey double words haha' and move on. Don't worry about it, at least the directions themselves didn't get messed up. But don't waste money on reprinting, it is really not a big deal. Smiley smile

To be honest, I am SOOOOO OCD that if I didn't fix it, it would literally pain me not to LOL Not even kidding. How many do you have to "redo?" My sister is making my invites because she knows I can;t handle ordering stuff offline because of imperfections (I have seen some horror stories on here, in fact). So my advice is this: if it bothers you that much, redo them. If it is going to "break the bank" to do so, I would skip it and try to cover it somehow as Jamie suggested. Either way, good luck!!! Smiley laugh

Although I don't think it a big deal, I would totally reprint them. The invites are the first things guests see about your wedding. As you said, you wanted them to be perfect. For me, it would bother me, because I know people would point it out. If it's not too much money, I'd reprint.

I really wouldn't worry too much about it. My invites stated our date as July Tenth, Twenty Thousand Ten. Someone responded with "I was hoping not to have to wait 18,000 years to see this wedding". Nobody is going to remember the faux pas after they get to the destination. As a matter of fact, if they even notice, they'll probably forget after they do indeed make the right and move on to the next step. Additionally, with the use of GPS systems, some people may not even read the directions.

Don't worry. I put the wrong zip code on my rsvp envelopes and didn't realize it until I sent them out (was supposed to be my mom's zip and I put mine)... fortunately, the post office figured it out.

Tough one! Part of me says no big deal, but then the other part says oh re-do!

But it sounds to me that your personality won't allow them to go out that way. Good luck with this one! I feel for you.

I had to reprint mine too. I had my FH's middle name mispelled, it was Micheal, instead of the correct Michael. of course his mom noticed it right away. My FH didn't even notice. I was lucky that I only had to pay $18 to fix them.

If it doesn't cost any money to reprint, go for it. If you're freaking about it, you're not going to be able to live with it.

I would not spend money to fix it. It's really not that big of a deal and it's just the directions not the "formal" part of the invite.

I am completely OCD. If it were me and it didn't cost anything (or at least still fit within my budget) I would reprint.

If it cost too much, I would leave them out as was suggested above. A lot of cars have GPS built in and with mapquest/google maps it shouldn't be a problem for people to find directions.

I would leave it alone as it is not on the invite itself.

Personally I wouldn't even think twice about it. My mom did mine for me so I didn't proof read them. Well my soon to be in-laws' name was spelled wrong (only on their envelope thank god)and she called us out on it. Even after THAT I honestly don't care. Yes, it sucks and it was slightly embarassing but at the same time, there are so many other things that are SOOO much more important and the people coming to the wedding love you guys and don't care either! I promise
