Skipping the Wedding Registry?

Carlene, on March 31, 2014 at 3:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

My FH and I already have a home together with everything we can possibly need. On our invitations would it be cheesy to put on the registry card: " We already have everything we can possibly need. But if you still feel that a gift is worth giving, money towards our honeymoon would be an absolute blessing!"

What do you think?

Well our invitations come with a registry card. So what should I put on it then?

Don't put it on your invitations. I think if you want to skip the registry then just tell people your preference if they ask. Otherwise, do a honeymoon registry.

No mention of gifts should be made anywhere on or near the invitations.

As for asking for money, it's not really done. You can spread the word via word of mouth or put it on your website. If simply not register anywhere, and most people will get the hint. The few that won't will get you velvet Elvis paintings and animatronic lawn art, but let's face it - they probably would have gotten you that stuff anyway.

    On your invitations, yes.

On your website or via word of mouth, knock yourself out.

How do you do a honeymoon registry?

You don't have to include registry info just because there's a registry card. That's like saying you have to get a pilot's license because you live near an airport.

If you want to use the card, you can print something like, "For more information about our wedding, please visit our website at www.sandmthemeleatherwedding.com."

No, dont put any registry card, dont include a registry card with your invitations. Def dont refer to money. If you dont have a registry, everyone knows what that means (cash). If you have a small registry with 10 things on it, everyone knows what that means (cash). If you ask for money inside your invitations in any form, its considered tacky and bad form. I know many people who give cash, but if cash is asked for specifically they cut the amount in half!
