Can it be lined with something else?

The jeweled straps of daughter's dress were leaving her shoulders flaming bright red within minutes. During alterations, they lined the straps with a soft, thin fabric. You couldn't see it on the outside of her dress, but the dress never irritated her after that. (I've also read that sometimes in alterations they rub beeswax on the inside of parts of the dress that are causing irritation -- but we didn't try it.)

Quick and cheap fix that won't ruin the dress is to use a hot glue gun.

Bring Vaseline (or similar) to carry with you on the day! I didn’t expect my dress to rub, but it did. I used a pawpaw cream, which is similar in texture to Vaseline and that provided a lot of relief!

Did you speak to your seamstress to see if there is anything he/she can do to help with the issue? As the PPs mentioned it could possibly be lined with something. Do you have another fitting appointment before collection?
