sil continues to cause drama.. will sing at our wedding!!

Blahboo, on July 18, 2019 at 7:10 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 8
Hi All,

Basically my SIL loves attention...

The conversation started between us discussing our Dj (who she knows very well) and we are hiring a different person to do the MC.

Her ; Don’t let me sing ! I will only do it if my brother asks me to
Me ; Haha.. You can sing at your cousins wedding (next year)
Her ; She doesn’t have a choice
Me; Did she ask you to?
Her ; No.. I just grab the microphone and stop the whole party.. I’ve done it at every family wedding

she then proceeded to tell me ; Your dj has heard me sing too but I’d never touch his microphone

Im not really sure how to deal with this type of personality. Has anyone had to deal with this on there wedding? I’m totally stressing she will try and make the day about herself which is upsetting ..

Side note my parter has spoken and we both agree her singing at our wedding is not appropriate as we have a time schedule to keep to...

I would just keep your coordinator and dj aware that you absolutely don’t want her to sing lol if she can’t get her hands on a microphone then you won’t have a problem!

If she grabs the mic and starts singing, she'll be the one to look foolish and you'll have a funny story to tell. Your MC should know how to tactfully cut her off if she goes on for too long

    Hi Blahboo Smiley smile

This is an awkward situation. I’m sorry you have to deal with it.

Do you have a day of coordinator who can run interference if she tries to take the microphone and sing?

Do you have a planner? They can help prevent this from happening. Also having an MC will help. They will keep your schedule on track and hopefully keep the mic from her.

Honestly, if she does somehow get a hold of the mic, the attention she is drawing to herself is not good attention, so I wouldn't worry about it. GOod luck Smiley heart

Tell the dj and mc if they allow anyone to grab the mic they will not be tipped.

I would for sure tell the DJ and MC (and coordinator if you have one) about her and tell them to keep the mic away from her. Have someone else run interference on her. But delegate all this to someone else so you don’t have to stress on your wedding day.

Yes just explain to your MC and DJ under no circumstances to let her take the mic, and if she does to cut the sound. Stick to your timeline.
