Echinacea, vitamin C, Elderberry syrup. Try chamomile teas with honey, lemon and cinnamon. That can help with congestion. Lots of water!! Lots of NyQuil and sleep. That's how I get over congestion and achy body quickly.

I definitely recommend lots of teas to drink and if you have it a humidifier to sleep next to.

Reading that you don't have health insurance makes me really sad. If you have a bacterial infection you'll need antibiotics Smiley sad I would see a doctor. Liquids are key in the meantime, and maybe some OTC decongestants.

Please see a doctor, there is nothing any of us can post that can substitute for that.

Agreed about seeing a doctor. In the meantime, get Kwan Loong oil, rub it all over your chest at night and wear pajamas or tahirt and bundle up with a blanket. Kwan Loong is a Chinese liniment so you will find it in an Asian grocery store in the pharmacy area. About $5 a bottle. Great for muscle aches as well.

Elderberry (like sambucol), zinc, vitamin c, LOTS of liquids/water, aleve, decongestant, a humidifier, a hot shower, hot soup, and a hot toddy at night (or melatonin) to help you sleep. Also, get some Vaseline, aquaphor, or chapstick 3-in-1 for your nose so it does not get cracked from blowing it, and tissues with lotion in them so it's gentler on your skin. You could also do a moisturizing face mask to help relax you while you're resting and keep your skin nourished. Keep your feet warm, wear a scarf, drink tea with honey and lemon, and gargle warm salt water or hydrogen peroxide a few times a day. Pile the pillows up behind you when you sleep, use vaporub, sleep/rest A LOT, make sure fresh air is circulating so the air is not stagnant and stale, and a nasal spray might help but those can be iffy.

Get a decongestant. I usually go for Mucinex DM. It usually clears up within a few days, even though I have a compromised immune system. You really should see a doctor, though.

Natural remedies won't get rid of the problem, especially if there could be a bacterial infection, which there may very well be.

SSJ, you're about to be really sad for millions of Americans then....

I prefer the sweat it out method! Take a hot bath or shower, bundle up in all the sweatshirts and blankets you have, turn the heat up in the house! Lots of vitamin C, and go to one of those minute clinics. They aren't super expensive and take people without insurance. I think CVS or Walgreens has them.

Girl, get to your doctor now and get Tamiflu! If it's not the flu, they an give you a steroid pack that will knock the cold on its ass! I got the flu two days before my first wedding, and we're talking body aches, cold sweat, etc. My Dr. gave me Tamiflu and I was at 99% for my wedding.

ETA: Just read that you don't have insurance. You can either go to an urgent care clinic or try Dr. on Demand:

    http://www.doctorondemand.com/

It's $40 for an urgent care visit from your home. It was a LIFESAVER when I didn't have insurance.

While seeing a doctor is the best option, I agree a hot bath & lots of rest will help. Mucinex always helps me with congestion, & soup is just magical. Also hot tea is great for throat & congestion.

Try DayQuil/sudafed. If it makes you feel any better I got bronchitis on our honeymoon. I would suggest going to a doctor but that doesn't seem possible.Check your cvs/Walgreens to see what they have for that.

    Fingers crossed it's not bacterial!

    Vitamin C!

EAT HEALTHY - no junk food for you! Green veggies.

    Drink LOTS of water!

Take a hot shower and get all of the crud out. Gross, I know :/ but it helps me every time.

I would go to the minute clinic or something to rule out a bacterial infection like strep or something that won't go away on its own. If it turns out to just be a virus I swear by airborne, take it there times a day.

Also go get the decongestant from behind the pharmacy. It's going to work 100 times better.

Honey and tea are my go to. Honey takes care of nasty bacteria, and the hot tea soothes. Look up the tea that is best for what you have. Green tea is always good in case you're not able to find what you need.

Tea, honey, and onions. Try hot baths and de-stressing. And most doctors offices you can call and see if they think you should be seen for free. Best of luck and feel better soon Smiley smile
