Alka seltzer plus - I'm in New Orleans for a bachelorette and the weather change (from buffalo) got me so sick. I took that, the drink tablet kind, for two nights and three days and I was cured completely. My parents and I swear by that stuff. It works better than DayQuil or anything else

I also so that you could go to a doctor or walk-in clinic. It will be out of pocket cost, but I did that once with a UTI and I think it cost me like $125 for doctor visit and anti-biotics.

If it's something contagious, you need to start antibiotics ASAP.

I was sick the week of my wedding as well and *luckily* got over it the day before. REST and WATER. Make sure you're eating nutritious meals, drink your tea and honey. The best thing you can do is try and take it easy. I would also recommend going to a doctor if you aren't on the mend by Wednesday.

I've been taking dayquil and nyquil. I don't feel sick sick. I'm just coughing and hacking so much trying to get all the mucus from my chest. I just don't want to stand at the altar hacking my lungs out lol

Something like this is going around me as well. My FH got sick and he used Theraflu to get better. It's the packets where you boil water and then you stir in the medicine. Also get Mucunus X like everyone else said. It works so well...

@Kristin - you don't have to be "sick sick" to be contagious. But, if it is bronchitis, usually that's from flu/cold viruses. You still should get checked out.

Steam/heat can help loosen phlegm. You want to stay hydrated as well. Other than that, you want medicines with "expectorant" qualities. That can help clear your lungs.

if you're still coughing in 5 days, you're going to need to get medicines with "suppressant" qualities, and you can try some allergy medicine as well if your nose is running.

ETA: I don't personally like Mucinex, because it gives me some wicked nightmares. But, it can work. I typically take Sudafed, I believe.

I am experiencing the same thing this week, so I certainly feel for you! (Especially with your wedding so close.) I have found relief by taking hot baths/showers, and surprisingly, by taking Claritin D. That's more for the congestion. I also recommend looking into some Dr. Teal's bath salts for the body aches, sit in a hot bath and let the steam help clear up the congestion and the bath salts will (hopefully) help with the body aches! I would get as much rest as possible, and call around to local clinics to see how expensive it would be to be seen. Best of luck!

You really need to see a doctor instead of listening to advice from the internet, especially when you're not sure what you have.

If you don't have insurance, you still have many options. There are new online sites that have actual doctors for you to video chat with - Teladoc, Live Health Online, Amwell, etc. and most are around $40 without insurance. You can go to CVS/Walgreens and visit their clinic. Or even call a doctor's office, if you pay in cash without going through insurance, many will give you a discount.

I second going to a minute clinic/urgent care and getting some antibiotics to knock it out quick! The money will be worth getting you better for your wedding!

Also lots and lots of rest and tea Smiley smile

CVS has Minute Clinics. Very inexpensive. They can also prescribe you any medications you may need.

I would suggest going to the doc. It is your wedding and you do not want to feel miserable, so I think it is worth the additional $$$ in the long run.

Ok, I'm going to be that person... One of the first things you do as a married couple is make sure you both are insured.

Hi - RN here - don't take decongestant until tomorrow - you can only take 3 days worth beffore they stop working and make it worse.

I would find an emergiclinic that is based on income and set up a payment plan. Its unlikely, by your list of symtpoms, to be bacterial but you never know.

Wash your hands... rest rest rest... electrolytes (not just water, change up juices and soups, you need sweet and salty liquids)

and get your hands on some tumeric tea.. One of our pulmonologists tells us this whenever we are congested - potent antiinflamatory and it works quickly.. Tumeric and ginger is strong... look up tiger's milk tea.

and day of, you should be better, but hopefully you'll power through - Good luck and Congrats on your wedding day!
