Show Me Your Nontraditional Engagement/Wedding Rings!

WolfWedding2016, on April 15, 2015 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Any other brides out there that didn't go with a diamond? I've been into ethically sourced/lab created jewelry for a long time, especially after taking a class that got into the ethics of the diamond industry. When it came down to it, I wanted something unique and affordable. He found this amazing jeweler on Easy and I LOVE my ring, and the best part is how "me" it is. We've started looking at wedding rings and will most likely pick something from her shop on Etsy as well.

My ring is a lab created white sapphire which is a 9 on the MOHS scale so it is pretty durable - not diamond strength, but with the half bezel setting I feel comfortable I won't lose or damage it. If anything does happen, it wouldn't be a crazy cost to replace it either. Here are the bands we are looking at:

Mine is black, but it's a black diamond... that counts as non-traditional tho! :-)

Green sapphire from Brilliant Earth. I absolutely love their "beyond conflict free" rings....and FH found them all by himself!

Don't mind my sausage fingers! Love my ring. Told fh before he proposed not to get me a diamond.. But he wanted to get me one, so after he proposed he was like, we both got our way, you got your gemstone and there's still some diamonds

Four awesome sturdy white opals from a nice mine in south central Australia, set into a rose gold band from the 1910's. The Jeweler picked up the ring at an estate sale and replaced the original opals and cleaned up the band. The ring was put out the day before FH and I stopped by to just look at what our options were and we fell in love with it immediately!

Does mine count? I've had two people ask me if it's "from Star Trek".

I love all of these! And @purplekitten of course it counts, it is definitely a way different shape than anything I've seen before!

@katy - I looked at them too! My cousin's engagement ring is a blue sapphire from Brilliant Earth. Conflict free is a great way to go. :-)

Every single one of FH's friends got engaged and while their rings are pretty and fit them, they all kind of look the same. I like having something different shaped and set. :-)
