Should the Groom match the Bride?!

**Soon to be bride**, on December 12, 2010 at 9:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

Hi everyoneSmiley smile

Ok, Soooo my fav color is ~pink~

We are getting married on a cruise so...they will be doing the decorating (which is not that much) and they will be using white colors. My dress is white and my bouquet will be pink (maybe other colors in it, like pale yellow) but def pink. So i guess that is "my color"

Should my FH wear pink in his suit? Or should he wear what color he wants. What I'm trying to say is do you think we should "match"?

Thank you! Smiley smile

I know for our wedding FH is wearing an ivory colored shirt, tie, or vest and one of those options in a champagne color. We haven't decided which on yet so that he matches my dress. Then the groomsmen are wearing the teal color to match my bridesmaids. Maybe if he had his tie pink or his corsage the same kind of pink color flowers as yours. That way there's something tying you two together (aside from the fact that you're getting married. Lol).

    Thank you Ashley-

I was thinking if we do match...he could wear the same color as my boquet. I think he is going to wear a tie.

We are not having a bridal party. Just he and I. Maybe a flower girl & ring bar.

Ya I agree, that would look cute, he doesn't need to have like a pink vest or anything if he doesn't want to, especially since you won't have BMs to match to.

Yeah, I agree with the flower thing. For me, it would suffice with him having the same color bout as your flowers. Unless you WANT him to wear something pink.

I would have him wear black and white suit; or an all white tux. I agree that if he does not want to wear pink, he could certainly wear the classic black/white or white suit and have a pink rose or similar as a buttonaire

If he doens't want to wear a pink tie, have him wear a black suit, white shirt and have pink in his boutineer to match your flowers.

Get him a pink fish tie?

My FS is wearing ivory and black for sure we havent decided if his tie will be cobalt or green. He wants green but I dont see it working out or looking nice. I'd rather he did so it's like hes the groom! and not an usher or groomsman. Esp since my dress is ivory and cobalt.

Don't know if this will help but when we did tux fittings for FH and the GM they said traditionally the grooms vest and tie mstch the brides dress - so he could do a white vest and tie if he doesn't want pink and still match. :-)

I did what Julie H. said, my husbands vest and tie were white like my dress (you can see it in my profile pic). Otherwise the classic black tie and vest are options too. Both would look good with a pink bout!

I would go with touches of pink in the tie, not totally pink.

Although this is your big day, we have to remember our FH have a vision of their big day (even if they don't express it) and should be given options. If anything, I would suggest adding compliments of what he might wear into your bouquet. Therefore, if decides to wear green, you can easily add accents of the green/style into your bouquet. Pink does not have to be the focal point of the ceremony. This way you both get what you want. Hope this helps.

I'll be in white (obviously!) and FH will be wearing all black. Black tie, shirt, vest, everything! But, the difference is we have a wedding party bringing in the color. What about making your bouquet pink with a little green and then like Carole B said his tie could be green with touches of pink. That way you two match, but you aren't matchy matchy and he isn't wearing a bright pink tie which most guys probably wouldn't like!

FH is going to match me with the flowers. We're both going to have burgundy roses. the BM, RB, readers and usheres will all have an ivory rose to match the MOH.

To be perfectly honest, usually the groom doesn't wear any colors/accent colors that are associated with the wedding. he usually just matches the color of the brides dress thus since your dress is white, he should wear a white shirt. if you want him to wear a vest/bow tie or regular tie those should be white as well. try to have a swatch of your dress when you go tux shopping. as for the tux itself, for a cruise i wouldn't suggest the typical james bond black. maybe kahki, or a linen color... just not actual linen because that hs!t wrinkles as soon as ya put it on.

he can wear a pink napkin or a pink flower if ya want though.
