Should I rent highchairs and where would I even find them?

Jennifer, on June 7, 2012 at 4:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Some of the guests coming to the wedding will have kids between the ages of 1 to 2. My reception venue just informed me (when we were discussing table arrangements and seating) that they don't provide any highchairs. So these kids would have to be held or sit on the parents laps during dinner (which I think is absurd). Should I offer to rent out highchairs? I have already been looking at event rental places online and I haven't found any that offer them yet, so I'm not even sure if I can find them. What do you all think? Any other suggestions?

Vendors - Does anyone know of a place that rents out highchairs?

I know this may sound retarded or crazy but just a thought would the guest think about bring their strollers or carriers with them? Those could be used as seating, since I am sure children that age do not eat much sold food. I may be wrong though.

Jennifer how many guests need them.

Maybe if you just let them know to bring a stroller into the venue...

No, it's not a bad question. I would assume they could use the car seats or strollers too. The strollers can just be really bulky and stick way out from the tables. Plus athtwo of them would be OOT, so I don't know if they are going to be bringin their strollers to travel on a plane 9security is a b**** with those things!) I just wanted to try and do something a little more classy for them.

Labake O. - I think just 3 people will have "little" ones.

Our catering company contracts with a rental company to provide tables, chairs, linens, etc. We rented a highchair from them. So, I know some rental facilities do have them. I would just keep calling around.

The only thing I can think of that would be a PITA is if you only need a few of them, and the company charges you a big delivery fee. That's what I would be worried about. But you can definitely get them.

I just asked the parents what they preferred - only 1 out of 3 in my case even wanted a highchair, and that kid barely spent 5 seconds in the highchair anyway. If you can't find any that are reasonably priced I would just ask the parents if that's okay and see what they say.

PITA? In Houston, a Pita is a piece of flatbread that you put meat in and eat (yummy).

PITA- Pain in the ass. Our venue worked with an event rental place. They did the linens, the dance floor, and would have had extra high chairs available if we needed them. A lot of companies that do linens and events do have them. Just keep calling. Or, maybe a large buffet type restaurant would rent you some. Or a church maybe? Just throwing stuff out there.

Okay, after calling 4 places, I finally found one, and he is pretty reasonable.$10 per chair, but I can come get them on Friday and don't have to bring them back until Monday (so no delivery fee on top of that.) I'm thinking of puttinin gon the RSVP page "If you have a child that will need a highchair, please put that in the comments section." Sound good enough? Thanks ladies.

I would say, not to worry about them, parents with children small enough for high chairs usually only find them in restaurants when they go out, so they will probably have their strollers or a carrier.

Lol well now I want some hummus and falafel and some pita bread. Smiley smile

That price is great! Good research!

For 3 people I wouldn't change your RSVP. I would just call/email those 3 parents and ask them. Whatever is easiest for you.

Krisalicious - I wasn't going to put it on the physical RSVP card, just on the website. Yah, some hummus and pita bread sounds really good right now, afternoon snack time!

We are lucky that our reception is at a country club. I asked about the high chair thing since we have a bunch of young ones coming to our wedding. They have like 5 of them, so we should be good.
