Should I include my wedding planner in my program?

Elisabeth, on December 2, 2016 at 7:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Hi! A dear friend of the family, who is a professional wedding planner, has graciously offered to help me plan my wedding for free. I plan to get her a gift and write her a nice thank you note, but should I mention her in the "thank you" section of my program as well, or keep it more general? Thanks!

No. Only vendors involved in the ceremony - the officiant and the music, if you have live musicians or soloists - are appropriate to include. You would not include your florist or photographer's name, for example. You could include her name in a thank you section if you wanted to.

I should add, she planned my sister's wedding last year for free; it would have been a train wreck without her.

Maybe make a little thank you section for her in the program. Honestly it's up to you. I think it would be a nice thought.

I was gonna say no but I just realized you're using a friendor... in that case yes?

Sigh...there is nothing wrong with using a family friend as a planner. My mother's good friend was our DOC and I honestly do not know what I would have done without her. You could end up with a crappy expensive planner just as easy as a friend. At least I know my mother's friend and the work she's done in other weddings.
