Should i even do a trial Hmu?

Abby, on July 28, 2019 at 7:50 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5
I am going to have a DW and I won’t have the flower crown or anything that I will wear at the wedding until like right before the wedding. So should I even get a trial done? It won’t be the same person that does it and I don’t want to love it and it not be at all what I get the day of.
I also don’t want to pay one person and then pay another person to do this. I am really not super picky over my hair or how my makeup looks I mainly just don’t want to look like a clown I really mainly only want my eyes done.
What would y’all do?

In this case, I think it'd be fine for you to skip a hmu trial!

That’s depends. I know I have talked to brides who are already married and they say you should always do a hair and make up trial. Sometimes what you envision for yourself may actually look different in person. Even with a DW, you could always do a Make up trial and then make sure that the person doing your make up the day of is using the same brands. I know sometimes really expensive brands that a lot of people use don’t work well with my skin. So I want to at least know and see how the make will look and take to my face before the day of my wedding just Incase there’s an issue. At least during a trial you can mess around or try different brands and get a firm idea of how it will actually look. It’s obviously a personal preference but I’ve read stories about brides not doing trials for hair and make up and it not being what the envisioned look you went for and sometimes that can make things really stressful and put you in a situation you may not be happy with!

I agree with Danielle. Even though you won't get to see how the particular HMUA does your hair and makeup, at least you will get to see if you really like certain looks and how to tweak them if you don't. This will also be helpful since you're wearing a flower crown. I also wore a flower crown and it was a fresh floral one so I didn't have it for my trial. However, I was able to use an artificial one so we could determine how it would look the best with my hairstyle and where it should be placed on my head. This also helped me determine how big I wanted the flowers in the flower crown. Here is a pic of the trial and then of the wedding day.

As I said I won’t see the crown or really even know what it looks like till day of. I showed a few inspirational pictures but they are just making something. I don’t want to go in and like a look (which I already know I’d like my hair down but I can’t have it down) and then it not work with my hair and have wasted $200 I already know what I want my eyes to look like.. I think it’s best to leave it up to the professional who works with flower crowns and hair often to know what’s best to do.
And i really don’t care what it looks like. I am really not picky but if I get a image in my head and it doesn’t look like it then I will be very unhappy. I will be on a very tight schedule wedding day so I can’t spend lots of time trying to tell them to re-create a look they didn’t do.
I’ve had to just become very laid back so I don’t get stressed. I just think this puts pressure on it.

I also didn't see my flower crown or even know what it would look like until my wedding day, but as I said, I was able to use the trial to guide me in how I wanted the crown. In fact, because of my trial, I was able to tell my florist I wanted the crown to be more like a headband so it would work with the hairstyle I chose. It sounds like I had more input in how my hair, makeup, and flower crown would all look together than you will have so in that case it sounds like having a trial won't really help you after all.
