How was your ring chosen?? Did you tell your SO what you wanted? Did you go shopping for it together? Or was it a complete surprise, and your SO did all the choosing?? Or maybe it was an heirloom? Share your ring stories (and feel free to show off that bling too)!

FH designed the entire ring himself. I did mention a few things to him over the 7 years of our relationship and he just nailed it. When he proposed I could not believe the ring was everything I wanted and much more! I told him he is picking out my wedding band and that can be a surprise too.Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 1

I technically asked my husband to marry me, but we’d been talking about getting married for a while. I got him a groove ring that he’s still wearing (to the point where the flag in it has worn off). We got engaged May 2019. I got a groove ring of my own a few months later. Last month, we had some spare change and we went to the store and I was able to pick out my ring. It was one price, but the sale didn’t go through because my address was wrong, so we had to reorder 🤣 conveniently, the ring was even more on sale when we reordered it, so we saved about $250, so it all worked out for the best. Got it just in time for our first anniversary next week Smiley smile

It was supposed to be resized, but I don’t know what they did to it but it was anything but resizing it, so it’s half a size too big, but I’m also pregnant, so that might be for the best for right now. I still wear my groove ring because it’s a part of our history, and it does make a nice wedding band Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 2

My now husband kept asking me for ideas on what I liked in engagement rings. I told him emerald cut solitaire and he took it from there! We never went ring shopping, he went straight to a custom jeweler who went to NYC and picked out stones to bring back to DC to show him. My husband picked this stone and setting for my engagement ring and proposed on December 4th 2018. We worked with the same jeweler for our wedding bands. My wedding band is an antique our jeweler purchased from an estate sale in NYC and thought I would absolutely love, which I did/do! We were married December 12, 2020 and are 5 days away from our one year anniversary!! Time flies y'all!!

Beautiful rings ladies and thank you for also sharing your stories!

Definitely went with him. He was having some justified sticker shock and wanted to make sure he fully understood why a stone was priced as it was, etc. I happen to know of an incredible jeweler in my home state of MN (we live in WI, about 3 hours away), who’s a certified gemologist, sat on the board of the GIA, was a lead buyer for DeBeers, so when she says something about a stone and why it’s appraised value is X, she very much has the knowledge and credentials to back it. She’s also insanely kind when it comes to helping anyone get the most out of every dollar they spend with her, whether a budget is 1k or 50k, she fully understands the investment an engagement ring is, and wants each client to adore whatever they get from her. So, road trip it was. There was a set I saw online that I fell in love with, but didn’t think would be feasible. Our fabulous jeweler however took a look at the pictures and said they absolutely could custom make something for me, so that’s exactly what he had done. He was still able to surprise me with the proposal since I didn’t have (or want to have) a timeline on when the ring would be finished. I love my ring!Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 4

Love it! Also, Presque Isle is stunning! My parents live about an hour from there in Ashland, WI, and Lake Superior shores are absolutely my happy place!

We had talked and agreed we both wanted to get married in July of 2019. Less of "let's do it right away" and more "we are out of the Honeymoon phase and still see eachother being together forever." He asked me about rings and I showed him a pinterest board of jewelery I had already created and pointed out a couple of styles. He did the rest of the ring shopping himself and got the thumbs up from my sister before ordering it.

He checked if it was okay with me if he asked for my parents permission (something he wanted to do). I said yes and he asked them about Oct/Nov 2019. I also stumbled across a suspiciously small velvet box just before Christmas. 😬 (I didn't open it but it was KILLING ME to know it was right there!)
Christmas passed by and our 1 year anniversary in January was somber (we had to go to a funeral for a student of my fiancé's). By this point we were living together and I was just waiting, knowing it was coming but not when.
He organized for us to meet up with his friends who all live 2 hours away at a restaurant in late February. We see them about 2x a year, normally and it is always a fun time. They all knew he was proposing but I didn't realize what was happening until we got to the restaurant and there were 28 people at a LONG table. It was the best! One person slipped him flowers under the table and another videoed the proposal and sent it to me afterwards. Another friend paid for a champagne toast. The owner of the restaurant was an elderly Greek man who had helped organize everything (including the toast my fiancé didn't know about). He also gave us a lovely bottle of Rakomelo liqueur (Tsipouro with honey and cinnamon).
Little did we know, it would be more than a year before we saw those friends again due to COVID. Lockdown started 2 weeks after we got engaged.

My fiancé told me years ago he would not get me a diamond. I was 1000% for this as you always see diamond engagement rings. A few years ago we went to the Natural History Museum. While walking through the gem and stone exhibit he learned what I like and don’t like. Darker gems, no amethyst, and the stone can’t be too big. I also didn’t want him to pay an arm and a leg for a ring. This is my ring! An oval sapphire with a few small diamonds and a unique design. It’s perfect for me!Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 5
