How was your ring chosen?? Did you tell your SO what you wanted? Did you go shopping for it together? Or was it a complete surprise, and your SO did all the choosing?? Or maybe it was an heirloom? Share your ring stories (and feel free to show off that bling too)!

Aww, these stories are totally adorable! Love!

So, my fiance and I had spoken about engagement rings and I'd shown him my pinterest board. I explained that I loved soft, peachy pink coloured stones which were almost neutral - NOT barbie pink (very important!) Almost everything on it was Kristin Coffin, Heidi Gibson style halos, with narrow bands, like these:

But, shortly after I showed him the board, my sister and I went window shopping, and I tried on a bunch of halos in real life and quickly realised that most of the ones available where we live were clunky and awful - they were nothing like the pretty, delicate ones I'd pinned. I was terribly afraid my now-fiance was going to buy me exactly what I'd asked for, and I'd HATE it. I saw some beautiful 3 stone rings and wished briefly I'd asked for one of those, but I didn't know if he'd bought anything yet, so I didn't say anything.

When he did propose during lockdown (on our balcony, watching a live stream of the zoo), I said yes before he showed me the ring. I wasn't even sure he had one, so when he brought it out I was really nervous - he was going to be focussing on my face and my reaction, not my response to the question and I was afraid he'd know instantly if I didn't like it.

Well... it was a 3 stone ring! He hadn't even noticed that all the rings I'd pinned were halos of some kind. He'd focussed so hard on the importance of the shade of peachy pink that he hadn't really registered the other details at all!

    Here it is...

I felt almost like he knew me better than I knew myself. If I'm honest, it is a lot more classic and timeless than the designs I'd been looking at, and it's a perfect blend between my love of pink, and his more streamlined, simple style.

The first year (maybe year and a half) into dating my husband and I were on the topic about wedding rings. I don't exactly remember how we got on that topic, but we did. And I told him what I liked since that day he has saved that picture on his phone until he proposed to me the next 3 years later Smiley heart . We got married almost one year later after being engaged. Smiley smile Here's a picture of my ring.

My FH's grandma actually encouraged us to go look at rings together. I told FH that if he wasn't planning on proposing in the next three years I'd rather not look at rings yet because I didn't want to get my hopes up or expect something sooner than he was ready for. He told me that was more than enough time so we made a date out of it, went to a local patisserie for breakfast then tried on rings. I already had a Pinterest board so I had a general idea of what I wanted. After looking at rings I updated the board and decided to share it with my FH. My FH is great at picking things out himself but his preference is to be told specifically what is wanted so he was all in on the board, he even added a couple rings he thought I might like. Ultimate, I fell in love with a ring that was online only, I tried to play it cool and told him any of the rings on my board would be great (they totally would have been!) but he could tell I was in love with this ring. Even though I had a feeling he would get me this specific ring I didn't know when and I didn't know what it would look like in person. So there was still some small element of surprise to the actual ring. Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 6

My FH and I have a favorite cafe that’s near a bunch of jewelry shops. We’d always walk past them and look in the windows as we walked from the car. So we’d talk and I’d mention what I liked and didn’t like. I knew I wanted a really classic 3 stone ring, plain white gold/platinum/silvery band. My fiancée went with a friend while I was away for work to buy the ring, I had NO idea! He proposed 3 months later, I was genuinely shocked. We went away for the weekend to our favorite place and he proposed. I found out later that before those conversations about what rings I liked (which we’d talked about for years!), he had his eye on a different more modern ring.

My fiance designed it all on his own, pear cut mined diamond on a cathedral setting. The only thing I found a little suspicious was the night before he proposed he was telling me about his childhood friend who had apparently had just given his LONG time girlfriend and child's mother a promise ring and we bothed laughed and I said how that was kinda weird and joked how he should be proposing at this point (turns out it was a proposal he just didn't want to be in his shadow LOL). Which lead him into asking what my ring size was, so I told him all my ring sizes for all my fingers and didn't think much of it.. The next day he went to our local prized jeweler and had the ring designed and proposed that night, after calling my dad for permission.

I sent my fiancé a bunch of rings I liked! We have a family friend who is a jeweler and has his own shop. My fiancé designed the ring with him! We have a bagel place we like literally right next door to the jeweler. Like walls attached to each other and so he was able to go get us bagels on the weekends and check on the ring quick and I didn’t even know as I would wait at home for him to come back!

We were given the center stone by my fiancé’s mom. It belonged to her mother and she had been saving it for when her son got engaged. I’ve always been really drawn to art deco design and ballerina rings, so I worked with a jeweler to design the setting. We both love it because it’s so special to us. Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 10

My mother-in-law gave us her engagement ring. She said the ring was always meant to go to my husband someday but she didn't see the point in waiting and she be honored if I wore it. I was going to change the setting but I really love it just as is. I couldn't love it any more if I had picked it out myself. Share your ring stories! 💍✨ 11

I actually found my own ring and spoke to FH about it from the premise of 'well we both know we will get engaged some day, what if we get this?'. We paid it off over a year (I insisted on going halves because it was dear) and a few months later he officially popped the question!

This is my ring and the wedding band we've designed to go with it!

I love your story! I have never heard of a bride going halvesies on her ring- it’s a very unique and modern way of doing things! And I love your ring! Pear-shaped diamond‘s are having such a moment right now, and I am here for it! 😍

I love that women are starting to veer away from things just because they are “traditional”, and are embracing non traditional stones. Aquamarine has a special place in my heart because it’s both my dogs’ birthstone. I ordered an aquamarine ring to wear at our wedding in honor of them; and it will also serve as my “something blue” (if I even do that whole thing lol)

This is so Vegas, and I love it! I don’t understand how men can be so laissez-faire about an engagement ring though! My nerves woulda been shot if I were in his shoes!

My ring is my husband's paternal grandmother's. All his grandparents are now deceased so it was passed on by my MIL. When we took it get resized and inquired about insurance, they appraised the diamond and said with that quality, it is must be registered already. We like to pretend Grandpa or Grandma won it in an underground Hong Kong gambling den mid-20th century.
