Share your ring stories! πŸ’βœ¨

How was your ring chosen?? Did you tell your SO what you wanted? Did you go shopping for it together? Or was it a complete surprise, and your SO did all the choosing?? Or maybe it was an heirloom?

Share your ring stories (and feel free to show off that bling too)!

I love when people share these stories. So this was a second marriage for me and we are older so when he decided he wanted to propose he talked to my kids and asked them first. πŸ₯°. He showed a few pictures to my daughter and she then shared with him a picture I had on my Pinterest page of a ring I always loved. He then went and had it custom made for me ❀️ And proposed with my children and close friends at Thanksgiving dinner a few years ago. He knew I would want the people I live there. It was very special.

So what is your ring short?

My fiancΓ© completely caught me off guard with the proposal, and surprised me with a diamond fashion ring I had seen online and adored! I had actually sent him a photo of it with a joking caption of β€œDoesn’t a girl deserve a pretty promise ring?” πŸ˜† To my surprise, he was planning a proposal! He ended up proposing with that ring, then he took me to his jeweler and let me design what I wanted πŸ’•

Aww I love this!! So do you do something to celebrate your engagement every Thanksgiving? Big high-five to your daughter for scoping the Pinterest page!! I absolutely love the band on your ring! Does it have a double band, or is this your e-ring and wedding band that you've had connected?

We always have a big family dinner and acknowledge our engagement. That is just my e-ring. It’s a criss cross band. For my wedding band I just have a very thin band that he also had made to fit with the line of the e-ring. Your ring is gorgeous

I love the criss cross band! It adds such a cool, unique twist!
And thank you! I wanted something classic and simple, but a little more than just a solitaire.

My Valentine's Day present this year was to go ring window-shopping. We made an appointment at a local jeweler, and the goal was essentially to make sure the style I thought I liked (oval + side stones) was actually what I liked (it was!).

This was my favorite from that field trip:

We then looked around online for a place where we could get a moissanite center stone that seemed trustworthy but wouldn't break the bank. I had originally been scoping out Brilliant Earth and Do Amore, but we settled on Rosado's Box/Love and Promise Jewelers (Etsy store with a Chicago storefront). I figured he bought the ring pretty much once we picked a jeweler. Lol, nope.

We went on a weekend trip to Kansas City at the end of March and I was ~convinced~ he was going to propose on that trip - he didn't.

The last weekend of April, we went back to our college town (where we met) for the weekend. We couldn't leave on time on Friday because he was waiting for a UPS package that he needed to sign for. I was trying to not be nosy because I had a feeling it was my ring, and I just let us be late. I was POSITIVE he would propose over the weekend now that he had the ring! Sunday, we even wandered through our old campus and he we held hands and walked our pup while he gave honestly a really beautiful little monologue about how he never planned on finding his future spouse in college, but how happy he was he found me. PERFECT time to propose, right? Yeah, he didn't πŸ˜… I was in a bad mood on the drive home and he couldn't figure out why, so I told him I thought he had the ring and was bummed. We talked about his speech and literally every other thing he did all weekend that made me think he was proposing (made sure I had my nails done, picked out a pretty outfit for me to wear to breakfast before we walked around campus). He told me the package had a been a box of 3D printer parts πŸ™„

May (and our first-dateaversary) came and went with no proposal and I was low key starting to freak out (yes, irrationally, but like, it's been 3 months since we went shopping at this point and I really thought he was ready to ask πŸ˜‚)

June showed up and my dad was coming to town for a week and I was thinking "Surely this will finally be it." Nope. Dad left town, mom's birthday weekend with her entire side of the family came and went, and still no ring.

I had scheduled a photoshoot with the photographer who did our grad school graduation photos for the middle of June - and told him he didn't have to come with me. He put up a stink about it and acted like he didn't want to come, and said he wanted most of the pictures to be of just me and our pup. The night before the photos he even told me he had the ring but hadn't figured out where or how he was going to ask, but he promised it was coming. He had me very convinced he was genuinely stressed out by it, so I dropped it.

After 4 locations during our photoshoot, the curls in my hair pretty much disappearing due to humidity, and sweat dripping down my back, I turned around mid-photo and he was down on one knee!!

So that was more of a proposal story, but MAN the process of getting that ring on my finger was exhausting and I don't get to tell many people about it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

But here she is in all her perfection:

Hahaha!! πŸ˜† This was FANTASTIC! Did you ever ask him if he intentionally set the mood for a proposal all those times, just to throw you off track?

My bf took me to a bed n breakfast for what I thought was my bday trip, but as soon as we got in the door, he was on his knee. My ring is an aquamarine square stone since he knows blue is my favorite color. Picked it out on his own with no input from me.

I LOVE ring stories! I love how everyone has unique style and how creative our partners can get!
I knew a proposal was coming soon but not exactly when.
We planned an 8 night trip to Vegas from December 19-27, 2019. Little did I know, the morning of Monday, December 17, my husband told his business mentor over the phone (based in Tenesse, we’re in Connecticut) that he was planning on proposing in Vegas and didn’t have a ring. He knew pretty much what he was looking for and had planned on just driving to a jewelry store that afternoon and picking something up. His mentor, who used to own pawn shops and knew a lot about jewelry, told him to hold off for a bit and they talked specs and budget. Three hours later, he called my now husband back and said he knew he found the perfect ring at a friend’s jewelry store in Knoxville. They FaceTimed and it was indeed perfectβ€”specs my husband wanted, my size and desired cut with subtle detailing (Verragio style pattern on the side). The jeweler cleaned it and overnighted to my husband, so it arrived literally the afternoon before our trip. We were flying first class, so I had dressed up in a cute dress and booties. We were originally supposed to land at 10 am in Vegas and he planned on proposing pretty much immediately. Unfortunately, we had crazy delays and didn’t land until close to 11 pm. My husband still really wanted to propose that night, so after we checked into our hotel, he urged me to freshen up quickly so we could see the final fountain show of the night at the Bellagio. I threw on super casual leggings and a tshirt and barely touched up my makeup. As we were in the Uber to the Bellagio, I glanced over at my husband and saw a distinct square shape in his pocket and knew what was about to happen. He proposed right as the show startedβ€”it was such an exhilarating moment. A gaggle of drunk girls cheered us on. It was so very Vegas and so fun!I couldn’t have picked a ring or story I love more! This pic I took the morning after our engagementβ€”I am awful at ring pics!Share your ring stories! πŸ’βœ¨ 7

I can't remember how long it was from when we talked about being ready to actually get engaged to when he proposed. Probably 6 months but I didn't keep track. I had been off work for 2 weeks because I got my tonsils out and he was adamant that we go on our annual trip to the Upper Peninsula the weekend before I went back. I wasn't sure I was even going to be feeling well enough to go, but he insisted. A week or so before we were supposed to go I grabbed his phone to Google something we were talking about and he snatched his phone from my hand, which is super out of character. That's when I figured that he must be proposing on the trip. It turns out that he had tried to order the ring online, but his bank flagged it as a fraudulent purchase and froze his card lol. The web page was still open on his phone and I would've seen it.

So we went on our trip and I actually made a point to pack cute clothes, just in case. Our plans were to go to dinner the night we got there then go to Presque Isle Park the next day. He kept trying to convince me to go to the park that night and I argued with him saying we'd be late for dinner if we did that. So he gave in and we went to dinner. The next day we got up and went to Presque first thing, and as we were out on one of the rocks I was thinking that he definitely was going to do it there. He made a motion for me to like turn around and go back to the path, so I figured I thought wrong, but that's when he called my name and he was on his knee when I turned around!

I made a pinterest board of rings and sent the link to him, but he never actually looked at them. One night in bed we were talking and I described what I wanted to him, and he took that description to find it and it completely matched one of the photos I pinned that he never saw. I gave him some basic specs and told him to choose the rest so it was a ring we both liked.

My guy and I had just moved to a new state for his job in the military and were out exploring in a small town close by- window shopping and having lunch. One of my favorite things to do is go antiquing and I adore and collect vintage jewelry ( mostly just art deco costume jewlery)

We walked into a store and I whispered to him as a joke that we were too broke to even be in there- haha. But we looked around and while browsing the case I pointed to various pieces that I was oohing and ahhing at.

Fast forward to four months later I get home from work early as it is the day before christmas. I set my stuff down and walk into the kitchen and he's on one knee with the ring that I was amazed at.

Almost a year later I still find myself staring at it!

My 1940's art deco engagement ring:

Girl, I love your ring!! I am obsessed with Art Deco (and basically all things 1920s). I had these 1920s Art Deco rings pinned forever

So I ended up designing my own version. One of my most prized possessions is a 1920s gilted starburst mirror 🀩 and I actually designed an enhancer for my ring that mimics the mirror

I am thinking for my wedding band, I may go with an art deco inspired baguette ring. Do you know what you are going to do for your wedding band?

Thank you! Your's is gorgeous as well. I love the baguette idea!

I have no idea on the wedding band. We've purchased a simple sapphire one for now for the ceremony as I just haven't been able to find the right one! I told FH I didn't care if it took five years I wanted the perfect band! haha
