Second Wedding Band

E, on September 27, 2013 at 11:35 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I am curious if any other brides plan on purchasing a plain wedding band to wear on the beach and other potentially dirty or harmful places. I am scared to wear my engagement ring (old family heirloom) and my diamond wedding band on the beach with sand, lotion, etc. My rings are 14k white gold. I am thinking about getting a 10k thin band. THink that would be ok? Anyone else doing this?

I think your engagement ring would be ok if it fits fairly tight. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a band just in case, though. And you can wear it in the future when you are worried about your engagement ring.

I did get a second plain band the first time around. This time, my wedding band doesn't have diamonds, so I'm not as concerned about that. I likely won't wear my engagement ring around places where it's likely to get damaged, since it's an antique, but not overly worried about my wedding band.

No...if I go to the beach I probably just won't wear it.

Yeah I just wanted to have something on for the honeymoon! I am only worried about the diamond bc it was hand cut and therefore is not perfectly round. The setting can get loose more easily. It's actually a real pain in the butt but I love the diamond.

Yes. That's my plan anyway. I want the matching tungsten carbide ring to FH's. We're pretty outdoorsy and there's going to be a lot of times I'll prefer just a plain band, no stones, no bling, no dangers of wrecking it.

I wear mine all the time but they fit tightly so they don't slip.

My e-ring is fully insured. Which covers, lost, stolen, mysteriously disappears, flushed down the drain or toilet. I add an addendum to my homeowner insurance policy. I have peace of mind and I can wear my wedding set with any worries. I just love the coverage, mysteriously disappears, not sure what it means. You can google jewelry or personal property insurance for a quote

PS, a close girlfriend of mines commutes back & force to work from NJ to NY. Her husband told her to wear "traveling" jewelry. Well, her house was broken into during the day & all they took was her jewelry & furs. Her wedding set is gone and she wasn't insured. She lives in a beautiful million dollar house neighborhood; but there's not guarantee that you valuables are safe at home. I'm not an insurance agent; but I can't stress how happy I am to be able to wear my jewelry all the time.
