Save the Dates & wedding website without pictures (for now)

Little Star, on June 12, 2018 at 9:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hello all! I’m starting to think about save the dates and a wedding website. We are now at about 10 months to go and we’re getting married on a holiday weekend (Easter). However, we have yet to take our engagement photos. We wanted to wait to do those in the fall since we are both extremely uncomfortable in the heat (we both sweat a lot and didn’t want to look drenched in photos). My FH is an artist and was going to either use one of his pieces or make something new for STDs. Would it be okay to go ahead and set up our small registry and website? We won’t have any photos for now but when we take them we can add them to the website. What do you guys think?

You can definitely wait on the pictures and add them later to the website.

You can also go ahead to start setting up a registry, but you will have to check it more regularly. If you start it and add stuff now some things may be discontinued and what not by the time your wedding gets here. Or all the fall/summer type items would be gone to make room for winter/spring, etc.

To give perspective we just set up our registries a few weeks ago and our wedding is late September. I would wait until at least 6 months, unless someone is giving you a bridal shower super early, but it is still up to you.

Thanks! So I can make the website without the registry and just add that later? I wanted to include the website on the save the dates. If I can wait on certain things, all the better...but I did want to get the STDs out ASAP since we’re inviting some OOT & OOS guests!

Yes, of course. Photos are not necessary for any of this stuff!

Also I disagree that now is too soon to set up a registry for your wedding. We started ours to have on the website when save the dates went out ...it wasn’t a final draft, we’ve been slowly and steadily adding items since, but, nothing has been discontinued or anything. If you’re picking a bunch of seasonal stuff that obviously may go or if stock but most of the standard items don’t change all that much, and we’re not talking about years here, just 10 months.

Also, we received some registry items as engagement gifts after we sent around save the dates! Smiley smile Smiley smile

Oh awesome! We will just be setting up a small registry of camping gear. FH wants to research and see what we want to buy on our own and what we can put on a registry. I’m thinking camping gear is probably considered seasonal?

I have seen many save the dates and wedding websites without photos. It does not seem like it would be problematic if you would like to add photos at a later date. The photos you share need not be professional either. If you are very concerned about photos on the website and save the dates, you may wish to consider finding a personal photo that is meaningful to you that you would like to share. Whatever you choose will be spectacular because it will be yours!

FH and I didn't take engagement photos, they're definitely not necessary. I just used a picture of us from after we got engaged for the website and there are so many STD options that don't have photos. You can also use a nice photo you already have, if you want.

Since your wedding is on a holiday weekend, I'd send Save the Dates out as soon as you can. We usually travel to see family then, so we would need to know in advance. It may depend if any of your guests are out of town though, too? I would set up the registry and website ASAP so if friends or family ask they can at least check it out and know the date and time.
