Save the dates (are these tacky)

MrsButterflykisses, on June 30, 2015 at 9:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 63

Do you think our save the date pic is tacky?

It's supposed to be blurry (it adds effect) and we thought the kiss made it romantic. However, I showed my mom and she thought it was kinda tacky. I'm bummed but, I don't want to hand these out to family and end up offending them all. Be absolutely honest.

What do you think? Keep the pic or change it? I scratched our names out, that's why there are some faint lines on the side.

I don't know if it's tacky but I don't like it. People could be embarrassed getting this in the mail. Sorry.

It's not "tacky", but I'd prefer a clearer picture of the two of you. I think your guests would appreciate being able to see your faces!

So, are kissing pics just not appropriate?

Am I missing something? What is "tacky" about this STD (and this is coming from someone who believes STDs are more trouble than they are worth)? I see a picture that was obviously blurred on purpose, but the names of the couple will be crystal clear. I guess I'm in the minority. If I received this in the mail, I wouldn't be the slightest bit embarrassed by it. I'd mark my calendar and be looking forward to the follow-up invitation (and if you don't send me a formal invitation, then you've delved into the realm of "tacky", lol).

I'm with TCF. What is "tacky"? I get not liking the blurry picture, but tacky? I think they look fine. I think kissy pictures being allowed just depends on your audience. Are they very conservative? If so, I would skip it.

I wouldn't say it was tacky but it does seem like it's missing something. The blurred pic makes it look bad.

I don't think they are tacky, but some people may see it as a little too risqué. Kind of looks like two people in a hot steamy shower.

A hot, steamy shower? The man is dressed up to his neck. I've seen plenty of brides showing more skin on their wedding day than this lady. I must be missing something. I see it as ethereal. Ignore me. Maybe there's something wrong with it that I'm just not seeing.

I wouldn't call it tacky. But, I like putting save the dates on my fridge, but I probably wouldn't if it had a kissing picture.

I'm not so much for the kiss, maybe if you were gazing at each other.

Maybe people think the blurred pic indicates that the couple is about to get busy lol. I wouldn't think anything of it.

Blurred or not, I am never a fan of kissing pictures for STDs. It kind of crosses into that whole "public displays of affection" thing that some people just are not comfortable with.

I personally don't care for the blurry picture. I could see how at first glance people might mistake this for a different sort of mailer. The blurry kiss pic I think says provocative rather than romantic, but that is my opinion.

Lol my fiance is a woman btw. Either way, TCF, you're Definitely giving me motivation to keep it! When we made it, I guess I was trying to go with the whole passionate look. We made it blurry with a focus on the kiss to add to that concept.

Also, my family isn't very conservative at all. I'm still unsure how'd they feel though.

I didn't think it was tacky but it's made me second guess mine for about 1.5 seconds!
