Save the date vs wedding invitations

If you are having a destination wedding you will want to still send out save the dates or an email version to give guests time to save and plan for the event. If you are having a local wedding I feel like you can skip STD's and simply send out traditional invitations 12-8 weeks prior to the wedding date.

I am sending STD's just because our wedding is Friday, so people are most likely working and our ceremony will be during work ours. So we want to give everyone enough time to make arrangements.

We are June 2020 as well. We are sending out STDs in September and then invitations the beginning of next year. June is "prime wedding season" so we want everyone to know about our wedding well in advance.

For us, it was! We had over 50% of our guest list out of state so a lot of people needed a lot of heads up for budgeting/planning/PTO/etc. We sent our save the dates out 10 months in advance with our full wedding website set up and a little blurb about our main hotel block. We had about 20 rooms booked before our invites even went out. Our invites went out 3 months ahead. I always like to get save the dates for weddings, especially if they are during summer months.
