Save the Date, pic or no pic?

Aida, on April 9, 2019 at 1:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 78

How many are including pictures of yourselves on your save the dates? Is it common to do so?

We didn't do a photo of us on our Save The Dates. We found a card that went with our destination wedding theme.

Ohh okay. Sounds neat. I expect it with the invitations but wasn't sure on save the dates.

But you can totally put a picture on yours! I've seen others do it and they look super cute.

It's common, but I personally think it's completely unnecessary and a waste of money. They usually cost a decent amount more than a stock image and at the end of the day, they are just going to get thrown out anyway. We used a stock image for all of our wedding stationary through Vistaprint and were extremely happy with the products and prices.

We didn’t add a photo only because we didn’t book our engagement photo on time but we are adding a small picture in our invites (wallet size) and some pictures in our website

The ones I receive typically have pictures. I don’t know if this is a regional thing? Ours was a postcard with pictures on the front & back. We got them from Minted & they cost the same with or without photos.

I am including 4 pictures on mine. To me that's what engagement pictures are for otherwise FH and I probably would've just skipped the engagement session. All the ones I get typically have pictures. We just received a magnet that was a "ticket/travel" theme for a destination wedding with no pictures.

We did! I haven't met all of his family yet so we thought it might be nice to put a face to the name. Also, we did fridge magnets so decided to have the picture.

Love the doggies! I did a sign for my dog too. Although yours did great looking at the camera! Mine was very distracted. I hope there's one good one to include on our STD with him and his sign!

We will be! Every save the date I’ve ever gotten has had a picture or two, so we are using vistaprint and putting some engagement pictures

It’s common but certainly not necessary. For many who opted to have engamanet photos taken. it’s a nice opportunity to share them. For what it’s worth, pictures on save the dates are way more common than on invites (which is actually quite rare)

I am using one of our engagement pictures for our STDs. STDs didn't even used to be something everyone did. Most people just marked their calanders once the invite arrived. So I look at STD's more of a keepsake for family and friends who WON'T be receiving an engagement pic.

I used greenvelope.com to send them via email. Lots of design options to chose from! We didn’t put a picture on our save the date. Since it’s an out of town wedding we wanted to get them out quickly and have our engagement session planned next month.

We did magnets! It had our picture saying save the date and a little calendar with a heart around the date, with the full date under and then our website URL 😊 the magnets are useful, don’t get lost or tossed to the side and we love going over to peoples houses and seeing them up on the fridge!

We didn't do save the dates. We picked our venue/ date right before the holidays, and everyone was asking us at family parties, so we just announced it. I thought that it had the potential to be lame, but people thought it was really cute. It was kind of spontaneous and fun because we were excited and it was such a recent development. We didn't do engagement pics either so we wouldn't have included pictures if we did. We called other people to tell them the date.

I will say to make sure to do the right kind of picture if you include one. I recently received a wedding invite from a family member, with a photo that left us all feeling ...weird. They're oddly positioned away from each other with tense body postures, she's glaring at him, he's got a dead-eye stare... maybe it's supposed to look suggestive or sexy or something? FH opened the envelope and says, "uh..do they even like each other?" When my mother and sister received their invites, they actually both called me, separately, to talk about what a weird photo it was. I also showed a friend and asked what she thought, and she said "this makes me uncomfortable.." Definitely not the reactions you'd want.

We used photos from our engagement session. I think it's totally fine to use photos or not, up to you. I feel like if you have an engagement session with your photographer that a lot of people use those photos for the save the date. If you don't have an engagement session then no worries, don't include a photo!
