Since people have to travel and buy plane tickets we are asking for an RSVP date of mid July to give us 3 months to assess the # of people and send additional invites if possible. Is that too early to expect people to RSVP?

@CatT - 99.5% of our guests were from out of state (yes, I did the math) - that's what STDs are for - so people can make plans. You still send your invitations about two months (or so) ahead - we gave it 10 weeks, because people were having to make travel arrangements - but YOU still don't need to have three months notice on the head count, your guests just need more notice to make their plans

I would be really hurt if I knew I was B-listed, and definitely would not pay to travel to someone's wedding where I was not considered important enough to be on the "A-list" -- but I would never admit that to the bride's face. I know it's tempting because you want to include everyone, but I think you should just stick with your guest count and if some people RSVP no, oh well.
