RSVP deadline for "destination" wedding

Future Mrs. V, on June 20, 2017 at 10:20 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I am trying to determine the best RSVP date. The wedding is October 28th but the wedding planner says she needs to know 60 days out how many additional chairs and tables she will need to rent. This means we need to know how many more than 50 people will be at the wedding. Our invite list is around 80 people, including plus 1s for single guests, and we have tentative declines from about 12.

An RSVP date 2 months before the wedding seems crazy to me, but it is technically a destination wedding, since nobody actually lives in that part of Florida. The majority of guests will be traveling from as far as California and New England. In my mind, "destination" is a foreign country.

Any thoughts? Is that early an RSVP date acceptable? What is the earliest RSVP date I could reasonably get away with? Should I just bite the bullet and rent tables and chairs for the entire invite list?

We are doing a DW in Florida too! Where is your wedding? We are on Sanibel.

Our venue requires 30 days, so we did 8/30.

In your case, unless you have the extra money to potentially waste on unnecessary rentals, I'd just use 8/21-ish as my RSVP date. If everyone has to make travel arrangements, they most likely will have made them 60 days prior. Did you send STD's?

The wedding in in Inlet Beach, FL.

I did send Save the Dates a couple months ago. The way my mind works, I would put the event on my calendar and send the RSVP when I get the invitation so I don't forget. But sadly I can't really expect everyone to RSVP early.

We are having a destination wedding. Our save the dates went out a year in advance and invites went out in Feb with a June 14th deadline. We are still chasing down rsvps! Smiley sad

We are having a Destination Wedding in Mexico and due to the resort we need to have counts 90 days before the wedding. We sent out our save the dates a year in advance and have let everyone know that they have until 90 days out to make a choice.
