Why ruin a perfectly good rose by using only petals? Just have them throw roses. Stems, thorns and all.

Throwing roses into the ring, er, I mean exit would be awesome. Like a bullfight! You could even exit in toreador costumes.

Hmm I didn't even think of fake flower petals, gosh we spend so much time discussing fake flowers on this site you'd think that would've come up before post 21...

You might think about using freeze-dried rose petals, which don't stain. They will also keep for months, so you don't have to be worrying about them at the last moment.

You can't throw fake petals outside. That's called "Littering".

    Give a hoot, don't pollute.

Of course it will be an expense. I assume you meant expensive.

Pumpkin is right though. Throwing things outside can be considered lettering.

If you want to use real rose petals just use white.

We are using bubbles, flowers aren't allowed at our venue, real or fake. And fake flower petals would be littering

But at my venue we are allowed to throw real or fake petals & therefore its not really littering at all.

You can use artifical rose petals. You can get a bunch of them at oriental trading for under $10

Kimi thanks for the info on the wedding wands, I think I'm going to do them, but not for everyone, just the wedding party, so when we get introduced, they can wave them and that will be our grand entrance.
